I always liked to visit the cherry blossom festival. The smell of the flowers always took my breath away. But now I can't stand the presence of being near DC. The people and agency's have become radioactive. The place is filled with hate and anger. I especially felt it heading up the steps. I didn't need to see the people to know how big of a frown they gave me. I'm pretty sure they had some choice words for me and foggy, but I wasn't paying it any mind. I thought about what was ahead at the trial. The prosecution had us in an arm lock and we weren't fighting back. It was tiring and I needed to pull out the nuclear option. "Foggy, hold down the fort, I need to make a call". Foggy shrugged as I walked off. There was one person who knew what to do. Even if his view was a bit....well, strange.
"I AM HERE!!!!" He entered like a majestic Phoenix from the ashes dressed in velvet. Foggy's heart skipped a literal beat at who I brought to court. "Is....is that-" "Yep" I said. "Meet doctor strange." I brought Steven to show the justices how the super heroes really reacted to the bill. Steven was always a show off. Sure he had a TV show, but the man was a national celebrity. He made a big deal out of everything. From saving the world to slaying demons, he made everything a red carpet event. Man it was good to see him again. I always missed that show-offy attitude. He swore and took his seat and lit a little flame that turned into a flower, handing it to one of the justices. I smiled. We finally had our ace. The prosecution asked some questions. Mostly simple truths like "what's your name" or "when will season 6 of your show will come out". Simple stuff. Then he went hard. "Why are you staying neutral in this conflict?" Steven thought long and hard about this. "Well," he finally answered "I can level a mountain with a flick of the wrist. I've killed literal satan and countless other things. But I see this bill and I see both sides making good points. I think of my self as a god figure in this matter. The right and wrong in this matter are in the hands of the people and the heroes. But remember this: if a war with heroes did break out, who would deal with the villains? I know I'm only one of a few that are neutral. We can't handle all those villains at once. Crime would be immense. There'd be no stopping the super villains at all." All of the sudden the court roared with words of agreement. Best Ace Ever. The prosecution rested and it was foggy's time to go up to bat.
"Excuse me mr......" Foggy asked quizzically. First time meeting a celebrity he was fond of. "Please, Mr. Nelson, call me Steven." I could tell foggy's heart skipped a beat. Haven't heard him this happy in a while. "Ok...Steven...why do you concern yourself with the conflict? You may be an avenger, but your still a mortal. Like many of us normal, reasonable humans, you drive a car, cook, order coffee, even do taxes-". Steven started to laugh "Now that's the biggest magic trick I've ever had to pull off." Foggy was shocked: he could laugh. I myself almost laugh at the statement, making foggy jump twice as fast. "Umm....anyway...why do you care about how iron man or captain America act?" Steven was meditating, per the norm, then answered "It concerns all of us. I want you to ask yourself, how many times would New York have been, oh, swept away, or say, eaten by mole men without the avengers or the fantastic four. Hell even the X-men have faced life threatening attacks against humans, and we treat them like garbage. We need to remember the heroes who protect us, not where they come from or how they got here. Sure we make mistakes, but we have saved you and your friends more times than you could count. So go ahead thank the firemen and the officers who save you, they are just as much heroes. But don't forget the guys who beat up planet eating gigantic men and silver surfers. This is all I ask" Dr strange was about to leave when he said "I needn't remind you who would be the biggest threat if humans interfere in extraterrestrial matters again...." And put a asgardian rune on the justices round desk.
I went up to the roof of the Capitol building. Steven met me next to the roof. "Did he give that to you?" I asked. "Yes. He said it represented the hope of our worlds. I want that hope to be realized and achieved. But we need to remember that this is the governors and justices and senators WE voted for. You even went with me, and I had to explain why I couldn't go up and start running." Steven started to make a little fire sphere puzzle out of the Palm of his hand "but you're right, I'd win by a landslide." I saw his heart. He missed Thor just as much as any of us. He saved our lives and the lives of every asgardian and human alike. ".....I got one as well. It represents justice and the law." Steven gave me a stone cold stare "Then make his wish come true, and bring it. Now I've got to go. Another late show tonight. Seeing Conan." I began to laugh "tell him to get funnier". Steven went, with the charred air of the sphere still in the air. Time to go back to work.
