The Last City - Newt

Teresa still hadn't told him who Lizzy was. She seemed to be avoiding the topic.

Currently, they had been drawing maps of the city, with Teresa's prior knowledge of where everything was. They had created a plan to find materials and supplies to live off of, while planning out how to make it to the Safe Haven, Teresa also had the plan to get rid of as many cranks as possible while here, in case any other survivors show up. Teresa was looking for supply stores WCKD kept around, and wanted to see if anything was left of the facility that she could get her hands on.

"It's not a good idea to go back there, I know, but there could be good medical supplies left, and there was a medical supplies store not far from here, maybe a couple miles that way." Teresa said, pointing in a direction.

"Why do we even need the supplies?" Newt asked. He thought his injury was fine, for the most part anyways. Teresa had been changing the bandages and putting cream to heal it faster, but it did hurt to breathe sometimes.

"In case one of us gets hurt." She stated.

"Or so ya can continue to experiment on kids at the Safe Haven?" He said. She just sighed.

"Let's get going, We're loosing light."

They headed off into the city, and despite Teresa's protests about Newt bringing his dog, he brought her anyways.

They followed the maps, and cranks had seemed to be hiding from them, which ruined their plan to try and kill most of them, but they did run into a few. Newt had to remember to hug Brenda a little tighter when he got to the Safe Haven, because without her training on how to effectively kill cranks, he would probably be dead by now.

They made it to what seemed to be storage facilities, and Teresa opened up the door while Newt pointed his gun in, just to make sure. They did a quick security check, making sure no cranks were there. To their luck, there was none.

Teresa began looking around the storage unit, with a clear list of what she wanted. Newt stood back with Daisy, and kept watch for any cranks, or worse, survivors.

Teresa rummaged through materials, throwing them into her backpack. Bandages, spray bottles filled with liquid, medicines, creams. Newt watched her carefully, as he didn't completely trust what she was doing.

"Keep watch for cranks, don't watch me." Teresa said.

"Just making sure ya aren't grabbing test tubes and blood things." Newt said. He didn't actually know the names of the tools Teresa used, but he had a pretty good idea of what they looked like.

"Blood things?" Teresa asked. "I don't even think I can correct you on the proper name of the tool, because I don't even think I can comprehend what you are referring to."

"Shut up and get your supplies." He said.

Daisy started to sniff around closer to the entrance and so Newt followed. Daisy seemed to have a good nose when it came to this kind of thing, so he trusted his dog.

"Coming back, Daisy's got a scent." Newt said. Teresa rolled her eyes.

Daisy left the unit and went into the next one, trailing through it. Newt kept his gun cocked, just in case, and there were sheets over large things, perfect for a crank to hide in.

Newt followed Daisy as she kept going, smelling something out. When she turned a corner, stopped and looked straight at something. Newt turned the corner, gun cocked just in case and was met with gas canisters. He was confused as to why Daisy had followed this.

Teresa was not going to like this. He followed his dog to canisters of gas. What was gas going to help them for? They didn't even have a car.

He turned around and went to leave when Daisy barked. He turned around to look at the wall, and sure enough, there was loads upon loads of ammo.

"Yes, Daisy! Good girl! Amazing girl!" Newt said, scratching the dogs flappy ears. Daisy wagged her tail and smiled- well a dog smile, with her tongue out, panting. He couldn't wait to bring Daisy to the Safe Haven. He couldn't wait for Tommy to meet her.

Daisy barked again at one of the sheets, but Newt ignored her.

Newt grabbed as much ammo he could fit and went back to the unit Teresa was in.

"Hey, Reesa!" Newt exclaimed.

"What?" She asked.

"Guess what my dog just found."

"What did it find?"

"Her. And she found a ton of ammo!" Newt said, holding out the bag. Teresa went wide eyed and smirked a bit, before dropping it. She clearly didn't want to give Newt the satisfaction.

"What kind of breed is Daisy?" Newt asked.

"It's a Bloodhound." Teresa said. "WCKD used them a few times to try and track cranks when they were looking for immunes."

"Her. If Daisy can find us food, water and ammunition, she deserves to be referred to as a real person."

"But it isn't, it's a dog." Teresa said.

"Do you have a heart? Like at all?" Newt asked.

Daisy barked.

"What, Daisy? What is it?" Newt turned to her.

"She probably smells a rat and would like a snack, Newt." Teresa said, clearly trying to get on his nerves.

"Oh yeah I can see the rat. She's about five foot, with no loyalty." Newt said. Teresa glared at him before her expression dropped.

"Drop the bag and put your hands behind your head." A voice from behind Newt said.

Clearly Daisy had found something much more dangerous than rat.
