The Safe Haven - Thomas

Thomas could swear on his life that the nights in The Safe Haven felt longer. He was still on the same planet, so how could he possibly be feeling like the nights were longer.

He told Sonya this, when he met her on the beach for their nightly confession session. She said it's because he wasn't sleeping properly, and that he needed to sleep more often.

Thomas thought she was probably right, but he still hadn't been able to sleep. The inability to shut off his brain had been a problem before, but now it was starting to be a huge problem.

He currently was walking around the beach, trying to find Brenda and Harriet. He yawned, and the lack of sleep had started to effect his ability to work.

Minho and Miyoko had gotten into it, as he made a comment about how the boys were winning their bet, and Miyoko had fired back about the fact that Harriet and Brenda were both missing. This lead to Thomas going off the find them to hold the peace.

He opened up the door to their hut. He walked in calling their name when he saw them. They were making out. Without their clothes on.

Thomas screeched so loudly he was sure people back in the Last City could probably hear him.

"I'm sorry! Oh shuck! I am so sorry!" Thomas yelled as he ran out, shutting the door.

He could hear them both cackling. Minho, Gally and Miyoko ran over.

"Thomas! What's wrong?" Minho asked.

"I saw them. They were- were-" Miyoko burst into laughter.

"Oh my god! You two were slacking off work to do this?" Miyoko laughed.

Thomas now realized they had both followed him out, fully clothed.

"Yes." They both said.

Sonya had walked over now.

"Is someone hurt?" She asked.

"Not physically, but mentally, Thomas has recently gone through a trauma." Miyoko said.

"What? What happened?" She asked, her voice laced with concern.

"Thomas witnessed lady love making." Brenda said, grinning.

Sonya rolled her eyes, a smile on her face.

"How's the trauma, Thomas?" Sonya said. She sat next to him, and leaned her head on his shoulder.

"Good." He laughed. He was happy for Brenda and Harriet.

"They had been hiding it from me, they thought it would make me upset about Emmie." Sonya said.

"I'm happy for them, but it does make me a bit sad." Thomas said.

All the love and stuff made Thomas think about where he was in his life.

At one point he thought that maybe he loved Teresa, but now he wasn't sure it was the same type of love that he originally thought.

He lied his head softly on Sonya's.

"Why? Because of Newt?" Sonya asked.

"What?" Thomas' eyes went wide.

"What did you not know?" Sonya asked, as if it was an actual question.

"Know what?" He asked.

"Never mind, you're gonna have to figure it out for yourself." She responded.

Thomas dropped it, as he really didn't understand Sonya.

"Can I tell you something?" Sonya asked. Thomas nodded.

She went quiet for a moment.

"WCKD gave a lot of us our memories back, you know that?" Thomas nodded. "I remember someone. I remember having a brother."

Thomas looked up.

"What? Who is it?" He asked. He thought back to Brenda and George. He could believe that WCKD would do this.

"It doesn't matter now, he's gone. It just makes me sad knowing I could've had a family while he was here." She said.

Thomas felt sorry for Sonya. As far as he could remember he was an only child, and the closest thing he had to a brother was Chuck and Minho. His hatred for WCKD grew more everyday when he found

"Sonya look, you do have a family, it's us, all of us. We're all always here for you okay?" Thomas said, Sonya sniffled.

"I just wish I could've- I don't know." She sniffed. Thomas put his arms around her and hugged her tight.

Thomas really liked Sonya. Not in a way that he liked Teresa, but in a way that she felt like one of his best friends. He felt like he could tell her anything and she would never judge him.

"It's okay, Son." Thomas said. "You'll be okay."
