The Safe Haven - Newt
He opened his eyes slowly, to see Sonya, reading her book while organizing the med tent. He watched as she dropped a jar of bandages onto the ground, as she was too deep in reading.
Before picking it back up, she scribbled something down on a sheet of paper, then went to the floor to clean it up.
"What are ya reading that has ya this distracted?" He asked.
"Just this basics of doctoring book, I'm looking for something for Mason's infection." She said. She popped back up from the floor, put everything on the desk and ran over to him to feel his head.
"No fever, good. Are you hungry?" She asked.
"No." He said.
"You're hungry." She stated. She left the tent, and as soon as she left Brenda appeared.
"Hi." She said.
"Hi." He responded. How was he supposed to speak with her knowing she didn't want him here?
"I'm sorry. About what I said, I'm happy you're alive. I was just angry about you bringing her here." She said. She crossed over to his bed and sat on the edge of it.
"It's fine, Brenda I get it."
"You're one of my best friends, I want you here, I promise." She said.
"Quit pestering the ill, Brenda." Jorge said, walking in with Mason. Jorge was holding his hand, and the other was wrapped in a bandage.
"Newt! I burned my hand on the stove and I learned how to make stew today!" He grinned. He climbed up onto the bed and Newt sat up to make room for him. Daisy then rushed in through the door and onto the bed as well, and started rubbing her head into him.
"Well how's that hand of yours? Healed up?" Newt asked him, smiling at the little boy.
"Yup. Your sister is very good at her job. Also so is Frypan, his food is really good and he said that I can sit in the kitchen and help with the cooking while everyone works! Isn't that great, Newt! I never want to leave here!" Mason chatted on excitedly.
"That's great, Mason! Fry is a really good guy, so you'll be great there with him." Newt said. Brenda looked at him funny. "What?" He asked.
"Your sister? I didn't know you had one." Brenda smiled. That's when he realized what Mason said.
"Mason, who do you think my sister is? Teresa?" Newt asked.
"No, Teresa told me who your sister is. She's that girl that's always in here. She looks like you, Newt!" Mason said. Newt just starred at him. While he was worrying about Teresa he had forgotten about finding his sister.
"I have some vegatables and fruits that Aris brought down. I also brought you some tea from the secret stash, but don't tell anyone I stole it for you. Tea bags are like gold around here." Sonya said, walking in with a cup and a plate.
"Looks like you've been caught, kiddo." Jorge said, grinning.
"Shut up, Jorge, we all know you've been stealing the chocolate chips from that secret stash." Brenda responded.
"I've brought tea bags from the Last City, and a bunch of other stuff, it's probably still in the berg." Newt responded.
"Whatever, eat your food." Sonya said, placing the food on his lap.
"I actually have to go talk to Teresa." He said, putting the plate on the table beside him.
"No. You need to eat first, then you can go talk to your girlfriend." Sonya said.
