The Safe Haven - Newt

Newt opened the hatch of the back entrance slowly, and put his hands above his head. Emmeline followed close behind him and when he looked back Daisy had ran up next to him. He saw Teresa held Mason, and went behind a wall for cover.

He walked out slowly, his hands above his head and Daisy jumped out, her head held high. Emmeline followed him, her hands on her head.

"Who the fuck are you? WCKD burned, and if you don't cooperate, so will you." Brenda said, pointing a gun at his head.

"Well it's lovely to see you too, Brenda." He replied.

She squinted at him, unable to see because of the dark. Lucy must of turned on the lights of the berg because it lit up, making it easy to easy everyone's faces. He was surrounded by people, and he knew almost every single one of them.

"Newt?" Brenda asked. "I saw your dead fucking body." She lowered her gun and her face dropped.

"Nobody stays dead in The Scorch, Brenda. I mean, I'm living proof." He could hear Gally's voice from the other side of them.

Suddenly someone pulled him into a tight hug and he didn't even have to look up to know it was Minho.

"You found the map! You did, didn't you!" Minho said. Minho's eyes were watering. Newt nodded and Minho stepped back. Thomas looked at him, with wide eyes before pulling him into a hug.

He could feel Tommy's tears drenching his jacket, but he made no move to care. They hugged for far too long, too long for it be considered platonic. By the time Tommy let go of him, he was holding back tears at getting to see him again.

Thomas stepped back and let Frypan and Brenda hug him, telling them missed him. Frypan had started to tear up and he could see Gally patting him on the back.

Suddenly someone had tackled him to the ground in a hug, and all he could see was the mess of a blonde braid hitting him in the face.

"I thought you were gone but your back and I missed you and I know that sounds weird because we barely know each other but you helped rescue me and I missed you, Newt, I really did." Sonya sobbed into him. He was a bit taken aback and he didn't realize how much he meant to someone he barely knew.

"Do I get tears too, you bitch?" Emmeline said from behind him, and when he looked up from the ground, she was smiling. He had never seen her smile before.

Miyoko, Harriet, Aris and Sonya all tackled her telling her how much they missed her, and her and Sonya were kissing when Newt turned around.

Gally helped him up and pat him in the back, and Vince ruffled his hair while Jorge pat him on the back.

Everyone had lowered their guns and Brenda had called everyone off and let everyone come out from their hiding places.

The entire situation was chaotic and Newt didn't know what to do or say. He was just happy to see all of his friends again.

"Uh, so we brought some people, none are infected. Emmeline picked some people up in The Scorch, and uh I picked up a dog obviously-"

"It is fine! Completely fine, Newt, he can stay! He can stay!" Frypan said excitedly from the ground, where he was petting Daisy.

"She- and her name is Daisy, Fry. Be careful, she's tougher than she looks." He said grinning. Thomas and Minho were standing so close to him, it would've felt suffocating if he didn't miss them so much.

He turned around and Jayden, Evan and Lucy, came out and Mason was on Jayden's back.

Mason jumped off and limped towards Daisy, falling in the ground near her to pet her. Frypan introduced himself to him, and asked him if he wanted anything to eat. Newt smiled harder.
