newt was really not thinking properly

The Safe Haven - Newt

The next morning, Newt went down to Brenda's pit and brought Teresa out.

"Okay first order of business. Everyone is eating breakfast right now, afterwards Vince is going to talk to the rest of us and tell us where we are sleeping from now on, the rules of The Safe Haven, and assign jobs. Thomas is gonna give us the run down later because we are going door to door and apologizing to everyone. So act like you mean it." He said. She nodded.

"I don't want to hurt anyone here." Teresa said. Newt patted her on the back. He couldn't hug her that would be weird, so that was the only form of comfort he could give her.

After apologizing to everyone all morning personally, it started to get around that Teresa was there. People were giving her dirty looks and in exchange, Newt as well. He didn't care one bit about what they thought of him. That's what he kept telling himself atleast.

"Last stop. I made it so that after you apologize to Sonya, she can heal all your wounds." Newt said. He tried to look at the bright side, but as it stands, her nose was broken and she had a black eye.

They walked into the med tent, and Sonya looked up from her book. Looking closer, it was a book on the basics of becoming a doctor.

"I heard she was here. I didn't think it was true but I guess so." She said.

"Sonya, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything." Teresa said. It was a short apology and Sonya looked at her funny.

"Why'd you bring her here?" She asked Newt.

"She saved my life. I owed her atleast a chance. She could have let me die on that pavement and continued living out in the Scorch but she didn't." Newt said.

"Fair enough." She went back to what she was reading in the book.

"Sonya-" Newt started but she cut him off.

"You've got medical experience yes?" She asked Teresa, and she nodded. "Good. If you stay, you work in here with me. You can also fix that kid's leg. It's got a bad infection. It's probably putting him through a lot of pain right now. I'm trying to find something in here that would help me fix him up, but most of this stuff requires resources we don't have." Sonya said, putting her book down.

"I brought along some medical supplies in the berg, I tried to just patch it up and clean it, but I could probably get rid of the infection too." Teresa said.

"Agnes." Minho had appeared at the doorway.

"Yes?" Teresa responded.

"Brenda is taking you to the pit, while we decide wether or not you can stay." He said, and Brenda came in behind him and grabbed her.

"Newt, Sonya, let's go." Minho said.

They all walked towards the Town Hall, where everyone was already waiting. Newt took a seat next to Thomas and Minho sat on his other side. Brenda came in a minute later.

Everyone was seated around each other and they all seemed to know what the topic of discussion was going to be. Newt knew almost everyone in the Town Hall, except a woman in the back corner. He recognized her but couldn't place as to where.
