Chapter 9 Seeing The World One Footstep at a Time

Several days later it's now 3:30 pm and Marley is home from school. While she is in her room she changed into a shirt with leggings and a hoodie that has sparkly writing on it and tennis shoes. She then put her braids in a bun and she gets her phone and purse. After she is done with getting ready she then text her friends who are waiting for her outside of her house. Marley there you are and what did your sister say to you. She didn't cause she doesn't even know that I'm not in my room neither do my parents. I have a feeling that they are going to find out about it sooner or later. Even when I'm long gone from this town.

Several hours later Marley is walking around downtown with her friends. You know Rachel sometimes I wonder what or where will time take me once I'm already out of school for good. How will I get to where I want my destiny to go down the road. Do I stay and listen to what everyone else says for me to do or go and follow my heart. I always wanted to go and explore the big city like New York, Phoenix, or Atlanta. What about the suburbs? That too I want to go and explore different places and see the world that is here forever. I just don't want to stay here when I graduate from college.

It will happen Marley you just have to believe in yourself. One day you will be out of this town forever. Just like in my dreams... What do you mean about that one? Well, I was in a really bad spot and I know that you probably had heard about what had happened. Hey, don't let it bother you Marley just because your family doesn't think that you are getting help in your homework for math. Your right Rachel I shouldn't let my learning disability get to me even if it affects me in more ways than one. While Rachel, Jon, and Marley are all walking in the downtown area all three of them look up... Hey Marley! Look Up. As Marley, Jon, and Rachel Looks up they see someone on the rooftop of one of the buildings and little did all of them know that it was Jace.

I'm wondering what is he doing up there and how did he manage to even get to the rooftop of that building. I don't know Marley but we will have to go and find out for ourselves. As Marley and the rest take an elevator all the way to the rooftop of the building she then gets a message from him.

Jace: Marley can you meet me up top.

Marley: I'm on my way up now

As all three of them are walking out to the rooftop realizing how stunning it is to see its beauty and its a wonder Marley sees someone. She wonders who was that standing there looking at all of the downtown areas... Jace... Marley there you are and I didn't even know that you were even with them. I know and I had to go and get some air after that meeting that my parents had and now I have a bad feeling that they might be after me. Marley what do you mean by that one. Well, they already had found out about me being in the library with you getting help with my math homework. If they even find out from my sister one bit that we were seen together then we are done for meaning that we will be forbidden to see each other ever again.

The worst part is that I have a feeling that I'm going to be working a minimum wage job for the rest of my life. Don't think that Marley cause you t have your whole life ahead of you. There is one thing that I really want to show you so that's why I was up here. What is it that you wanted to show me up here Jace? As it started to get darker outside and all of them are now on top of the roof Marley is with Jace on the other side of the roof. Marley, When I was in the seventh grade I would always come up here and look at the stars that's twinkling in the sky.

When I always see the first two stars in the sky I think to myself when I will leave this town and how. Now that your here in the very same area with me you have those same thoughts in your head. I know and it's weird and strange at the same time with me having to deal with my sister who just won't even leave me alone. What about your parents? They know about it all and now I just don't know what to do right now. Marley, Look at me...Don't worry about the future or any of that right now cause time will fly by and then you will be out of high school and college wondering where you will go from here.

For right now there is one thing that I want you to have. Jace what is it... Several hours later she sees something around her neck and realizes that it's a locket. Jace, what's this? Marley Rose Harlow, Don't ever let anything nor anyone stand between us no matter what anyone says including your family, teachers anyone. I won't Jace Beckett.
