AMARACHI
My eyes felt heavy as I slowly opened them. For a split second, I had totally forgotten what happened and expected to see myself cuddled up in Nne's room.
My head was pounding heavily.
I hissed in pain and slowly opened my eyes. It took a while for my vision to adjust as everything seemed blur. The first thing i spotted was an injured person, badly injured with blood oozing out of his nose. He laid next to me. I let out a loud shriek and tried moving away but I couldn't.
I then realised my legs and hands are tied."Where am I?"
"Hell" a young girl replied as she sat opposite me. She looked so battered and bruised. She coughed up blood and her what seemed like white shirt was also stained with blood.
My eyes immediately roved around.
The area was oozing with the stench of blood and alcohol making me dizzy.
I felt like throwing up.Oh good Lord.
Where am I?
Why was I kidnapped?
Why were these people kidnapped too?
I studied how we were arranged.
We were divided into two rows and we faced each other.
The walls weren't cemented which hurt my back as they grazed against the rough wall.
There was only one window. From the look of it, it seemed it was sunset.Suddenly i heard series of laughter and five masked armed men entered the room, leaving the door opened.
I peeped outside and noticed the area was covered with bush.
Am I in a forest?
I squirmed in a fit of panic.
They were all holding guns and I could spot daggers on two of them.I shook with fear and prayed silently.
I didn't want to die.
Why was this happening to me."Oh you are awake"One of them said as he came forward to me, holding on to his gun.
My throat burned and felt sore.He crouched down to me and brushed my hair from my face.
"And na fine girl she be o" He chuckled, turning to face his colleagues."Chai so fine girl like you go just die like this" one of them grimaced lightly.
What!
Die?
No. No.
"Please I don't want to die"I immediately pleaded, my voice hoarse.
They all started laughing."Baby girl no be like sey we hate you but them don already pay us. We no hold any thing against you make your spirit no go torment us but na our job. You just have to die"The one who crouched by my side gritted.
I let out a cry.
Why will I die?
I didn't do anything.
I was about to plead with them but I received a resounding slap from the one who was still crouching next to me."Why you dey cry!?"He thundered.
"You wan make i kill you now!?"He growled.
I shook my head with tears running down my cheeks.
I restrained myself from crying out.The rest captives just watched. They definitely had pity for me in their eyes.
He hissed at me and stood up."Get up!"He yelled facing one of the captives in my row.
It was a middle aged man, bashed and bruised. His eyes were swollen and blood was oozing from his nose.
God.
What is this?"I want to be very kind today with you people. I'm in a good mood o. I was paid eight hundred thousand to get this African princess here"He said facing me.
What?
Who would pay him that large amount to kidnap me?
Was it Nicole?
My head ached the more I thought about it.
I clenched my teeth and let out a painful hiss."Now i want to release you"He said to the middle aged man.
I could see a glint of hope in the captives eye. He tried talking but could only cough up blood.
"Now run before i change my mind"The man felt resistant at first, wondering whether he should go.
"Run before i change my mind!"I watched the middle aged man try to run outside immediately but it seemed like he had a broken leg so he couldn't run fast. I wished I was the one given the opportunity as I watched him go.
