Unpacking everything all by myself took centuries. I ended up having to skip lunch just to finish unpacking. My parents got there around 5:00 P.M. with all the appliances I said I needed. In fact, there was a whole separate truck just for what they bought. My apartment was pretty small, but still able to hold everything I needed. I had four small rooms, but not all were separated by walls and doors, just by the tile I had put in. My kitchen was very small, just big enough for a fridge, stove/oven, a counter, a microwave, and a small table with two chairs sitting on either side. My living room was the biggest area of the house, which had a couch, a chair, a coffee table, and a TV hanging on my wall. Then the bathroom was teeny tiny, with a toilet, shower, sink, and cabinet. My bedroom was decent sized, and it fit everything from my old house in it, thank God. I was worried it all wouldn't fit. My parents didn't stay long at all since we already had our emotional goodbye back at my old house. When they left, freedom finally sank in. I'm free, living in my own apartment, owned by me. I decided to go out for dinner since my fridge was literally completely empty. Tomorrow I'll go shopping for food.
I located an Olive Garden not too far away from my apartment, so I decided to eat there for the night. It felt weird using a credit card to pay, but I felt grown-up and responsible. I didn't take too long since I was a little afraid to walk back by myself in the dark. I timed it perfectly so the sun was just beginning to set as I made it back.
I put away all my clothes in my closet, but didn't get to finish because I heard a knock on the door. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion as to who it can be, but decided to just open it anyway. There was two girls, both appeared to be my age, who were standing there smiling.
"Can I help you--"
"YOU'RE OUR NEW NEIGHBOR?" Says one of them excitedly.
I nod. "Oh my GOD! We heard a teenager was moving in and we just got super excited. You're the first person under 55, besides us, that lives here. Oh God, I'm being so impolite. I'm Katherine, and this is my best friend and roommate, Anna." Anna waved, and Katherine just kept smiling. Katherine had chocolate brown curly hair that fell just below her chest. She had an olive skin tone and dark brown eyes. Anna was basically the complete opposite. She had shoulder-length red hair and bright green eyes. Her skin was pretty pale too.
"I'm Mia." I smiled at the two of them. Friends on the first day? This is pretty cool.
"Mia, we're all going to be best friends, okay? Now let's check out your new apartment!" Katherine motioned her way passed me and sat on my couch. "It's small but homey, you know?" She asked Anna. Anna nodded in response.
"So, Mia, we have an important question for you, okay?" Anna pulled my arm to sit next to them on the couch.
"This is like, ultra important. And there's two parts to this question. Ready?"
I nodded, quite scared.
"Do you like One Direction?" Blurted out Katherine.
"That boy band?" I asked. I've heard of them, but never bothered to listen to their music.
"That boy band?" Anna repeated. "That boy band?!"
"I have nothing against them at all, I've just never heard any of their music. Anyway, what's the second part, and why are you asking me?"
"Well, the second part is would you be willing to join us tomorrow to see them play at the Today Show at Rockefeller Center. It's free to get in but we'll have to leave like, now, to get a good spot and be able to see them. What do you say? You might like them, and there's no better way to decide whether or not you like a band then to hear them perform live."
