Today was the day. Niall and I had both just finished packing, and it was 3 in the morning. Our plane was at seven, so we decided to get on the road now just in case there's any traffic.
We loaded our bags into the car and got ready to go. I picked up Anna and Liam, who was staying at Anna's place this week, and all four of us headed to JFK to go to Madrid.
I was driving, and I had a lot of trouble staying focused for numerous reasons. One is that is was literally 3:30 A.M., and the other is that I had three other people in the car screaming the lyrics to Uptown Funk which was playing on the radio. I was nice and didn't say anything, but if we died because I crashed, I'd be a really pissed off angel.
After many more loudly/poorly sang songs - which was surprising because 2/4 of the people in this car were professional singers - we made it to JFK. There were paparazzi surrounding my car, taking photos of all of us as we tried to get out, but eventually a security guard ran over and shooed them away. We were able to grab all of our bags then headed inside the airport.
We did the usually 'ole airport stuff. We checked it, boarded our bags, went through security, blah blah blah. Then we sat at our gate and waited for it to say our plane was boarding.
About five minutes before we began boarding, we all decided to take World's Fastest Bathroom/Food Break. Anna and I literally sprinted to the girls' room, then sprinted over to quickly order a coffee and a muffin. The boys were already done when we met them back by our gate, and as soon as our sprint slowed to a stop, our gate sign lit up, so we grabbed our carry-ons and boarded the plane.
It was calmer than I expected, since most of the people on the plane were elders, so nobody screamed out, "IT'S HALF OF ONE DIRECTION!" In fact, I didn't see one girl even near our age, so I let out a dramatic sigh of relief.
Niall and I took our seats next to each other as Anna and Liam took theirs across from us.
The pilot gave his spiel on the speakers about safety, and how there was food and free movies on board, and how it was cold in New York but warm in Madrid, and how he hoped we all enjoyed the flight, blah blah blah.
The plane began to move and Niall grabbed my hand. It lifted off the ground and we were off in the air.
The plane ride was the definition of boring. All the free movies were super lame, so I ended up pulling out my laptop and Niall and I re-watched "The Interview." Anna and Liam were sound asleep after the first hour. We still had seven more hours to go. Yay.
I was so thankful that this plane had free Wifi, so I decided to call my mom and let her know I was on the plane.
"Hey Mom." I said into the phone, quietly, because all the other passengers were asleep.
"Hey, Sweetie! How's it going?"
"I'm good, we're on the plane." I rested my head against Niall's shoulder.
"That's good, how long is the flight?"
"Eight hours. But seven left."
"Not bad."
There was a pause.
"Can I talk to Niall?" She asked.
"Sure." So I handed my phone to Niall.
"Hello?... Hi, Mrs. Lander. ... Yeah, we're doing great." He chuckled. "I'll take good care of her, you don't have to worry about a thing. ... Yeah, you too. I'll put her back on, nice talking to you!" Then he handed me back the phone.
"I really like your boyfriend." My mom said, and I could just tell she was smiling when she said that.
"I do too, Mom. I really do."
