"Auntie!" Max exclaimed, running down the hall

"Auntie!" Max exclaimed, running down the hall. I get down to his level as he runs into my arms. "I missed you." Max says before placing a kiss on my cheek.

I love this little boy.

His big green eyes have so much hope. His slightly freckled face is just like mine. Cute little nose, slightly red from the cold December weather.

I giggle. "It's only been a couple of hours, silly." He sighs. "To long." Max huffs with a pouty look on his face.

"Where's your mama?" His face lit up. To him, the best person in the world is his mom. Kate is a great mom. She tries her hardest for him.

"In the kitchen, making dinner. Put me down. I need to help her." He started to squirm, trying to get out of my grip.

He's such a big helper. Max acts a lot older than he really is. He acts like a six-year-old, and he's only 4.

I laugh, placing my nephew back onto his feet. As soon as his small feet hit the floor he darts into the kitchen leaving me alone by the front door.

I sigh softly as I make my way to the kitchen.

"Hey sis." I say, entering the kitchen. "Dinner's almost done. How was work?" Kate asked.

Kate looks a lot like me. We have the same light copper hair with natural highlights. But Kate's hair is cut to about her shoulder. Mine goes to about my lower back. Her eyes are green; mine are a blueish gray.

"It was good." I work at a bar in a small nightclub here in New York.

"Bailey!" I called out Bailey is my Great Dane puppy. She's white with brown and black splotches everywhere. Her eyes are a dark blueish gray. She's beautiful, smart to.

Bailey comes running out of the kitchen. Her big pawn hit the dark brown wooden floor. "Want to go for a walk?" She starts barking, her tail wagging.

"Go get it." She listens, running to my room that was down the hall. I have trained her to get her leash and bring it to me.

Bailey came rushing out of my room with her sage green-colored leash. She drops it at my feet, then sits. She is very well trained for only being 5-months.

I get her leashed before quickly grabbing my water bottle and my keys. I couldn't help the fact that this odd feeling began to form in the pit of my stomach as I opened the front door.

After walking for about an hour, the sun began to set. The beautiful colors, looking as though an artist painted on the sky.

The blue mixed with the soon-to-be darkness.
The orange around the sun was still fading into pink.

I've always loved the sky, as well as the stars. I could stare at it for the rest of my life if I could. It gives me a sense of peace and hope for everything to get better—not just for me but for Kate and Max.
