𝕃𝕖𝕥'𝕤 𝕊𝕖𝕒 (FEM! Reader X Arataki Itto)

ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ⁷

He laughed victoriously and threw his club onto his shoulder. "Ha! That was barely a workout!" He flexed his other arm. My eyes widened in horror and slowly pointed behind him.
"Um, look behind you..."
"Moo!"

Confused, he turned around and was met with an adult Rift Hound. "Oh crap-" It roared and raised it's claws. "Ushi, I need you to stay put!" I shouted as I dashed towards Half-Oni, acting on impulse.

"Get down!" I threw the torch at the monster and tackled Half-Oni a second after. The torch hit it straight in the face, obscuring it's vision and it redirected it's attack, missing us by a few centimeters.

"Ow- Shortie?!" He looked down and I sat up. "Listen to me, let's get out of here! You know what their corrosion does to a person?!" I pleaded for him to listen and he looked at the Rift Hound that was rubbing and scratching at it's face that now had burn marks all over.

I hastily got off of him and pleaded once more, "C'mon! Let's just go!" I grabbed his hand and tried to pull him up. He got up himself, and instead of answering me, he turned his attention to the Rift Hound.

It growled and turned it's head towards the two of us, snarling and snapping it's jaws. It suddenly began bounding over, mouth opened wide as it tore through the air. "Move it!" Half-Oni shoved me into the pool.

I swam up just in time to see him holding his club up with both hands while on the ground, trying to keep the Rift Hound away. It snapped it's jaws dangerously close to his face. Arataki gritted his teeth as he raised his feet and rammed them against the creature, forcing it back.

He used the opportunity to jump back onto his feet into a fighting stance, ready for the next attack.
"That's the best you got?!"
"Don't provoke it!"

The Rift Hound suddenly went invisible. "Arataki-!"
"Stay! I'll take care of it while you and Ushi run!" He spared me a glance and I could see he was being serious.

"I'm not leaving you, you idiot!" I shouted just as the Rift Hound appeared again. He rolled to the side to avoid it before looking my way,
"Y/n, get out of here!"
"You're being hypocritical!"
"Stop using big words!"

I jumped out of the water and stood in front of him, soaking. "What the heck, Shortie?!" The Rift Hound howled loudly into the air, making the cave reverberate at the volume. "We have to get it in the water! Or wet at least!"

He didn't understand but before he could ask, the Rift Hound charged again. We both leapt to the side to avoid it's razor sharp claws and I quickly got up and sprinted towards the pool.

"Over here, Dog Breath!" I waved my arms and saw Arataki's bewildered expression. "Wait, what're you doing?!" He wasn't fast enough, the creature already rushed towards me and I threw myself to the side, narrowly avoiding it in time.

It landed in the water but quickly got out again, shaking itself off. "Now what?" He asked me and I reached into my pocket. "It might get a little chilly in here..." I took out the Vision before holding it to my chest, my other palm stretched out and faced the Rift Hound.

I exhaled a foggy breath and released a snow blizzard from my fingertips. It slowly pushed the Rift Hound backwards as I stepped towards it. It struggled to float as it began to freeze. It's limbs became stiffer and it's movements were slower and sluggish.

It stepped into the pool and I continued to freeze it within the water. It let out it's last wailing howl before finally freezing completely at the centre of the iced over pool.

I lowered my hand and swayed on my feet. I pocketed the Vision and lowered my gaze to the floor as I panted. "Cool. I can see my breath..." I breathed and my eyes fluttered closed for a moment.

"That... was... BAD-ASS! You were like SWOOSH! And the whole freezing it thing... AWESOME! You didn't tell me you had a Vision?!" I turned my head slightly to glance at him before tiredly dropping my head again with a low, tired chuckle.

"You never asked..." I trailed off and fell to my knee. "Shortie?" I saw the world tilt and heard his muffled voice. I couldn't register anything I was hearing and only thought of sleep as I shut my eyes.

Merry Christmas, guys and gals! I might have a special chapter in the works that was supposed to come out sooner but I was spending Christmas with my family and therefore didn't get much chance to write. But it should be out in a bit after this one. I'm probably gonna rush it a bit but it should be fine... Maybe. Please point out any errors you see, not just this next chapter but all of them. Thx!
