It did not take long for the boys to make it to the portal.

As the subway started to succumb around the area, Dan and Ian had managed to sprint towards the exit portal safely.

Ian hopped in first. He set down Brianna and Evan on the other side of the portal.

He was about to climb in until he saw what was inside the portal.

"Damn," he attempted to laugh. "Nothing is going hot in here."

Dan did not bother to look inside. He knew better than to believe anything would ever turn right at this point.

He let down Richy from his back. Richy looked back at him with his large brown eyes.

"Is Mommy going to be okay?" Richy asked, his eyes red from crying earlier.

Dan turned to Kat. She was staring intently at the ongoing subway tunnel, where Billy and Tyanea were duking it out.

Her upper left side had green, veiny poison, but she did not care.

The tunnel started to shake again, reminding Dan of the collapsing location.

Dan took his head away from the clouds and guided Richy into the portal. Ian carried the boy inside.

"She is okay," Dan finally answered Richy and turned away before Richy could say anything else.

"Find the others," Dan ordered Ian.

"Yeah, yeah," Ian scoffed, waving his hand to shoo him off. "Whatever you say, Emo."

Dan walked up to Kat, ready to drag her into the portal. However, she didn't budge. She was still staring down at the tunnel.

Dean suppressed the urge to sigh.

He knew what Kat was thinking of doing next.

"I have to go get Billy," Kat managed to murmur. The pain of the poison was starting to numb her.

"No," She heard Dan say firmly. "If you're worried for him, let me retrieve him."

"But, you're getting weaker..."

"You are as well."

The two stared at each other. The echo of Tyanea and Billy's battle resonated throughout the perimeter of the tunnel.

It was as if the sound was taunting Kat.

"Then will you come with me at least?" Kat asked Dan. She hoped that it was enough for him to reconsider.

She didn't mean to maximize the damage in this situation. But after what happened to Brianna, she didn't want the same thing happening to Billy.

Dan looked at Kat with unemotional scrutiny. Yet, as he continued to look at her, his expression turned soft.

"No," he finally replied. "I still won't let you."

Kat's expression shifted into disappointment. "I thought you were gonna let me." she scowled.

"I may love you," Dan reloaded his guns in preparation. "But just because I do, doesn't mean I have to listen to you. Like, in this type of situation."

"So you're still a dick?" Kat managed to laugh but, it came out as a painful cough.

Dan looked at her with a pained expression. His face made Kat wish she wasn't in an injured state. The burden was too much.

"Just stay behind for Richy and Evan," Dan nodded his head over to the portal. "Ian and Brianna need your help more than I do."
