Kat stared at the car window as her family casually conversed.
It would be a few minutes until she would make it to school.
It was sorta odd to have the whole family together in the car early in the morning.
Like her father going to school or work earlier than her and her brother or her little sister going to school later than her.
But today, Kat's father's morning classes had been cancelled due to his professor not being there, therefore leaving him to have extra hours of no school.
And since he seemed so eager to take his children to school with his wife, everyone was forced to pile up in the car and leave.
Kat snapped out of her little daydream and faced her father in the driver seat.
Her father, Eric, was chuckling about a past memory that later left Kat's mother, May, to punch the man's arm with a smile on her face.
Kat laughed at her parent's playful argument.
Her little brother, Enrique, sneezed and rubbed his nose with his arm. "Ugh." He grunted as he sniffled.
Kat scooted inches away from her brother.
How did this boy even get sick?
She turned to her sister, Sandra, and saw her snoozing away on the seat, still in her pajamas.
Kat raised a brow. Despite everyone being here, Kat was the only person that was being dropped off out of her entire family.
Shocking.
But being the only one leaving was the least of her concern.
Kat turned back to the car window and rethought the plan that the Realities Squad made yesterday.
It was bound to happen that people are gonna stay barricaded in their homes because of the kidnappings. So it may be possible that everyone in their area was not gonna go outside.
So school wasn't a problem now.
Much to Kat's dismay because she wanted to get her studying and final exams done and over with. But it couldn't be helped.
Since that was how it was, Kat had no choice but to accept it.
So the Realities Squad decided to keep their family and friends safe as possible in case the Hooded Figures were coming for them.
And to also get training out of the way. The API Department were nice enough to make the Realities Squad a top priority ever since they found out that one of the Hooded Figure's goal was to get the Realities.
So that meant the API Artopians would be working with the Realities more often.
And since Kat was pretty experienced, she assigned herself to find out more on the Ethereal.
Thinking about all what Lady Jae Hwa said long time ago about the Ethereal, Kat knew there were still some mysteries behind the Ethereal.
But that meant decoding the language on those paper explaining the Ethereal and using that information to understand the Hooded Figures.
This was already a lot of work...
Kat huffed out a small breath.
Well, at least her weeks of no school were somewhat set.
"Katarina?" Kat heard her name and she immediately turned back to driver seat, where her father was looking at her through the rear-view mirror.
He looked at her with worry in his eyes. "Is everything okay? Anything happening at school?" He asked, taking his eyes back to the road for a mere second.
