Part 14

Angst

If you notice anyone copying my work and not crediting me please message me privately so I can talk it out with that person. 

I think it's great that you guys get inspired by my work, but please don't copy and not credit me. It doesn't feel great that I work hard on something and people just take it. 

There has been an instance of someone copying my work and I messaged that person and they didn't respond. 

I don't know what else I can do. 

"No way, Jackie did that?" I laugh as I sip my drink and talk with Ekko at the edge of a building. "haha yeah, he couldn't wipe the paint off for days" Ekko laughed also taking a sip of his drink. I promised Ekko that we would catch up.  "ahh I missed this" Ekko sighs as he leans back on his arm. "me too" I said back. 

"It really messed up when you suddenly left you know?" I said looking down at my legs. Ekkso tone saddened. "I know and I'm sorry things turned out that way". i didn't say anything but i could tell that he regretted leaving me. "so. How exactly do you know Jinx?" Ekko looks at me suprised. 

"she didn't tell you!?" "not really. I don't know much about her. She doesn't want to talk about her past much. But it hunts her" I said. Ekko was still surprised that Jinx didn't tell me anything. I look at him waiting for an answer. "so?" I ask again.  " uhh well it's complicated" he tried to not answer. "cut the bullshit and just tell me" I said in a demanding tone. He scratches his neck and looks to the side. 

"I don't want to be the reason you see Jinx in a different light" he said "since when do you care about how I see Jinx? don't you want me to see her as something bad? I know what I need to know about her, that she is a mentally unstable girl who is a mad genius at the same time and can fight while also shooting like a maniac. Did I miss anything?" I said raising my eyebrow. "I know all of this about her and I still like her and want to be with her. So tell me how do you know her?" 

He sighs and finally begins. "ok fine. Well me and Jinx go wayy back. We knew each other since we were kids. Back then her name was Powder. She had an older sister named Vi" he said softly "the only thing that girl knew to do is punch and block with her face" he said a soft smile on his face. "oh yeah Jinx did mention that she had a sister" I let him continue as he seemed to go deeper and deeper into his thoughts. 

"there were also her brothers. Mylo and Clogger. They weren't biological siblings. A guy named Vander took them all in, including me." Mylo and Clogger? could those be the dolls at Jinx place? "we were all a bunch of lost kids who just wanted to survive. But we had a lot of fun. And it wasn't much but it was perfect" Ekko said his voice soft as he smiled at the memory. His eyes looked so sad. 

"so what happened to them?" I ask already guessing the answer. "Jinx happened" he said looking at me frowning as he got up. I sit in my spot as I look at his back. He rubbed his face and continued the story. "it was a robbery gone bad situation. There was an explosion which made enforces busting through the undercity trying to find the culprit" he said frustrated. "but do you think Vander would give up his own kids for the rest of the undercity? no. No, he wouldn't so he gave himself up" Ekko baled his hands in the fist as his knuckles went white from the pressure. 

"I couldn't do anything but watch. I was just a kid, but man it doesn't feel great. Silco took Vander. And Vi, Mylo and Clogger were just about to bust him out. But then..." Ekko slowly turned to look at me. "...another explosion. Like the one that made the enforces come for us in the first place. But this time...everything that could go bad did. And some paid with their life" my eyes widened at his words. "w-wait, are you saying that Jinx mad--" "Powder made the explosion" he said slumping down to the floor his back turned to me. There was silence for a couple of seconds. Ekko's tone was full of sadness and angriness. He sounded helpeless.
