Mai'Adua,Katsina State.
Anayah walked cautiously down the muddy path,so that she will not pour inna's markade and the weather seems like another rain is about to fall. Children were playing inside the mud and she quickly leave the place before they will splash it on her.
Every Sunday morning she walked 6miles to the markade place and after coming back she have to cook the awara and fry it. Then she will take it to the market and sell it.
Today been the market day, mai'Adua has a very large historical rural market operating on Sundays. The market is international serving as exchange point between Nigeria and Niger republic. Livestock, including cattle, sheep, goats, camels, donkeys, and horses are the main commodities mainly from Niger, while grains such as maize, sorghum, millet and soybeans come mainly from Nigeria. So, Anayah goes to the market every Sunday to sell awara.Inna! Inna! Inna
Keh! Keh why are you shouting my name?
Inna dama I'm back neh!Anayah said
So you can't keep it until you damage my eardrums right??Inna shouted
No, inna kiyi hakuri. Anayah Said before inna will start beating her mercilessly.
She made the fire and cooked the awara.
Wai ke baza kiyi sauri bane? Inna said eying her. Aa inna, yanzu zan gama soyawa(No inna, I will finish frying it now)then I will leave for the market. Anayah said calmly
Kar ma kiyi sauri ki gani(Don't be fast and see). Inna said holding her waist. Anayah ignored her and continued frying the awara.
Ooh I am talking to you, you even have the guts to ignore me right? Inna said holding her hijab
Inna I'm sorry plea....and she was cut off with a sound slap. You dare tell me sorry, shegiya idanuwa kamar na mayu(bastard, eyes that resembles that of a witch).
She continued frying the awara while crying. When she was done she arranged it inside a bucket and put the yaji(pepper) by the side, she went inside their room and saw her younger sister kulu sleeping peacefully . She changed her hijab and carried her mini handbag that she use to keep money in the market.Inna! Ni zan tafi ( I'm leaving)
She carried the bucket of awara and head outside
If you like sleep there and don't bring my complete money you will see what I'm going to do... Anayah heard her saying before she exit the house.Anayah! Anayah! Anayah she heard someone yelling her name. She turned and saw her best friend batula.

Eh( yes)
Toh sae kin dawo( Okay till you come back)
Ni zanje Shagon mal. Buba neh (I am going to mal. Buba's shop)
Okay! Bye take care.My name is Anayah Adam Mai'Adua... I am the only daughter of my late parents may their gentle soul continue to RIP.They died when I was just nine(9) years old on their way coming back from the city in a tragic car accident. So now I'm currently living with my stepmom (inna talatu) and my sisters (badiya, the oldest she's married with two kids and my younger sister kulu) then my elder brother audu( he's working in the city as a gardener) he's the only one that cares about me. My father is a hausa man from katsina state while my mum is a Fulani woman from plateau state. My mom and dad met in the city where she works as a nanny and my dad went to the city to further his education, they got married after his graduation.
Two years later...
My mother haven't conceived, my father relatives started calling her barren and all kinds of insults... but my mom always ignore them since she knows that it's not her fault and she continued praying to Allah.
My grandma forced my dad to marry another woman he got married to his father's friend daughter. She gave birth to ya badiya and after one year she gave birth to ya audu. My mom later conceived and gave birth to me,my father and mother were very happy.
Two years later inna talatu gave birth to kulu. When we started growing up my father took ya badiya, ya audu and I to school. He said we can never know where we might end up so it's better if we have the both general knowledge and Islamic knowledge. We went to the only school around mai'Adua. Baba paid our school fees and after he died my aunt continued paying my school fees while ya badiya got married and ya audu drop out. I also have a dream which is to become a lawyer I continued schooling and now I'm currently in ss2. I am sixteen (16) years old.
As she walked quietly to the market she can't help but think about how her future would be like.>>>>>>>>>>>
Assalamu Alaykum! Inna I'm back 'Anayah said keeping the bucket'
Toh! Ina fata kudi na sun cika?( I hope my money is complete) inna asked eying her

Toh! Anayah said simply

Jollof din shinkafa( jollof rice) inna said pronouncing the 'f' with a 'p' sound.
Toh! Anayah said simply.Anayah find a place on a stone and sat down on it in front of their local coal pot after she finished cooking . She read her government note book since they are starting their C.A test tomorrow.
