Addison's head rested upon the cracked wall, loose pieces of peeling paint caught in her dark locks. Dried tears stained her pale cheeks, still locked inside of the ammo closet. Time only dragged on, but with no light except for the dim lightbulb it was impossible to work out how long she'd been trapped. The longer Addison spent alone with her thoughts, the more and more worried for Carl she grew. Despite her chaotic mind, no matter how hard Addison tried, she couldn't stay mad at Carl. If the roles had been reversed, maybe she would have done the same thing.
An echo of footsteps drifted through the cracks in the door, instantly alerting the teenager of another's presence. Raising a hand, she knocked her raw knuckles against the brittle wood. The feeling rough against her bare skin, vibrations rattling through her bones. As the door opened, a stream of natural light flooded the room. Addison squinted in the light, lifting her arm in an attempt to block the light from reaching her eyes. After a moment, her hazel eyes adjusted to make out the sight of Enid, a concerned expression flashing over her delicate features. With weak legs and the help of Enid, Addison made it to her feet. A sigh slipped from Addison's lungs as she realised Enid would have a lot of questions, but what surprised the teen was how her friend was holding back.
"Carl didn't want me to go with!" It was as if the hazel eyed teens words had sparked Enid into action, instinctively pulling the tired girl into a hug. At first Addison tensed, but soon found herself relaxing as she broke down. Burying her head into Enid's shoulder, the material of her clothing absorbing the stream of tears slipping from her eyes.
"There not back yet," Enid spoke softly, causing Addison to tighten her grip on the slightly older girl. To Addison this was weird, finding comfort in another person. If her family were to see her now, they would surely believe that she was weak, not worthy of the strength of the Winchester name. Her whole life she had to prove herself, being the only girl meant her father would not go easy on her, often her training was harder than her brothers. Breaking away from the hug, the younger girl was quick to wipe away any evidence of her emotional breakdown.
"I'm going to go check on Judith."
Hey Readers,
I apologise for the extremely late update, and for how short it is. I have been really ill over the past few weeks and writing hasn't been easy in this time. But I'm back and I will do my best to update each week, but I may miss a few days as my Mocks for my A-Levels are this month, so there may be a week in the near future that I miss an update. Anyway, feel free to vote or comment if you liked this chapter to show your support.
