Chapter 7 - The Bracelet

Jack's POV

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock. Today was a Saturday. I made breakfast and ate it. Still, I couldn't forget what happened yesterday in the waiting room.

That little girl, what was her name again?... Hailey! Yes, Hailey. How come, she has some of my features? I mean, i was the only guy who had that kind of hair color and this was natural. Yes, alot of people are dying their hair white, but if they have a kid, their hair color still turns to have their natural hair color. But this kid? Her hair wasn't died at all. It was natural.

She also had my smile when i was a kid. And she looked almost like me. I just need to see hailey one more time. And if i get the chance, i also wanna meet her mother.

As i got dressed, i was planning on walking on the park where me and elsa used to hangout when we were still in highschool. How i missed that time.

I was ready to leave the place. I locked the doors and walked to the park since it was just on the other street. As i walked to the park, i saw alot of couples cuddling while watching their kids. I wondered, if i never had the accident, me and elsa would've been doing that too.

I roamed around the place already but there was no sign of hailey. I tried going places but they were nowhere to be found. Then i thought, maybe i was just dreaming about what happened. I mean, it's impossible for a kid to look like me with the same hair color and stuff. Then after that, i started to forget about it and continue with my job.

Elsa's POV

"Mom! I'm gonna be late for school, wake up! It's the first day of 5th grade, i can't be late this time!"

Yep, hailey is now in 5th grade. She's already 10 years old.

"Ok, i'm up, i'm up" i moaned as i woke up.

"Be ready in 5 minutes mom, i'll wait downstairs." She said as she left my room.

Until now, the day hailey bumped into that guy never got out of my mind. I have to meet him, but where?

After 10 minutes...

"Mom, i said 5. You finished like 15 minutes already! School's gonna start any minute now!" Complained hailey.

Sometimes, she gets really pissed off. But i still love her no matter what.

"You're over-reacting hail, it's just 10 minutes and your school doesn't start 'til 8:00"

As we drove to hail's school, we bought Mcdonald's on the way since i wasn't able to cook breakfast. She waved me goodbye and left. I drove to my office.

"Hey Elsa!" Greeted my co-workers.

"Hey, good morning!" I greeted back.

I took the elevator to my office and started my work.

After tons of meetings, calls, paper signing and other stuff you can think of when you're working in an office, it was finally time to go home.

Boy, it was exhausting than i thought! Today was payday anyway so i didn't mind.

And since it was payday, i thought of stopping by the jewelry store to buy hailey a simple gift. It wasn't her birthday or anything. It's just that, it's my habit of buying my daughter a present every payday so that she knows that i love her. This time, i was carefully looking at their charm bracelets. One had flipflop designs in it, flowers, hearts and finally, i saw the perfect one. It had snowflake designs. I bought it and made my way home.

"Hailey, i'm home!" I yelled as i closed the door.

"Mom!" Said hailey as she hugged me

As soon as we pulled, i kneeled down in front of her, "hey, guess what? It's payday today! And do you know what that means?" I smiled.

"A present!" Said hailey as she jumped in joy

I gave her the box where the bracelet is in. She opened it and i noticed a tear.

"Mommy, t-this this is... Is beautiful! Thank you!" She said as she hugged me and i hugged back.

I removed the bracelet from the box and put in on her wrist.

"I bought this one because it reminded me of you." I said as i wiped her tear.

And i thought, maybe it's time to tell her.

"Hey hail, sit down. I'm gonna tell you something. But please promise me you won't get too upset with it, ok?" I reassured her.

She nodded in response.

"Wanna know where i got your name?"

"Yes mom"

"When i was pregnant with you, i was shocked. I didn't know what to do. But then, when i told your dad about it, he was very very happy. He couldn't wait for you to arrive."

'Daddy' i heard her whisper it. Then she looked at me with teary eyes.

"Hey, hey. I'm not finished yet." I said as i wiped her tears.

"When i was already 8 months pregnant with you, since me and your daddy loved winter, we decided to name you after something that reminded us of winter. Then we came up with the name Hailey. From the word, 'hail'.

She stayed silent, signaling that i should continue.

"Then, 9 months. I was due on december 21st and it was winter. Your dad had a call from his boss, saying that one of their co-workers quitted and your dad's their only chance or else their business drops."

"So he had to leave"

As i said that, i never noticed i was already crying when hailey started wiping my tears off. I held her hand as she cupped my face. "I am so lucky to have you Hailey. And i know your dad is too" she smiled and hugged me.

"Mommy, i am too. And you don't have to continue your story, i know what happened next to daddy. But i promise, i won't be too upset. I wanna be strong like you"

I tear a bit and hugged her tightly. "I love you so much hail"

"I love you too mommy"

"But they haven't found the body of your father. So i have this strong feeling he's still out there. And this might sound crazy, but remember the big man you told me when you were 5 yrs. old? I have a weird feeling he's your dad."

"What? Him?"

"I'm not sure yet. So, what do you say if we find that man and get to know him?"

"That would be a wonderful idea mom! Let's start tomorrow since it's a Saturday!"

"Alright, but right now, we have to get ready for bed"

Alright, this is it. I've finally decided to see Jack again.
