~~~Flashback~~~
The blood of its last victim trickled from the vampire's fangs when he flashed them at us as if showing where our blood would be soon. My dad shoved me behind him as the monster got closer, eyeing us wickedly.
I woke up this morning to screams, instead of my mom's wonderful kisses. Vampires had attacked us in the middle of the night. Not just my family. According to the radios, and news stations, they had attacked every single city in the world simultaneously. Almost like they had orchestrated the attack for years.
No city ever let their guard down especially at night, because those were the hours the vampires were not restricted by the sun. So no one understood how they so effortlessly got into not one, but every city in the world.
Worse was how much stronger, and faster they had become. Vampires were naturally hard to kill, but these vampires seemed almost impossible to kill. The human and hunter races were in a state of confusion.
My dad kept using his body as a barrier between me, and the vampire who looked amused for some reason.
"Stay away from us", my dad said in a shaking voice. I could tell he was as scared as I was. This seemed to amuse the vampire even more.
"Humans and their stupidity", he snarled before turning into a blur, and the next moment had my dad facing me, but dangling several feet in the air, and grasping the vampire's hand which was clasped tightly around his neck. I could see his claws digging into my dad's flesh drawing blood.
" No!", My twelve-year-old self screamed.
The vampire sent me a smile that promised only pain, " You want me to drop your daddy ? ".
I nodded, as tears streamed down my face.
"Okay", he whispered and immediately dropped my dad to the ground.
Dead, with a giant hole in his chest where his heart had been ripped out. A scream broke out of my lips.
~~~
I stirred as my eyes fluttered open, and shut immediately. Every part of me hurt, and my muscles protested with each slight movement.
" Call the doctor", I heard someone say. " She's awake ".
I opened my eyes, and the first thing I saw was the pure white ceiling.
Where am I?
I started to sit up, as I scanned the rest of the huge room I was in. Everything was white. The ceiling, the walls, the curtains, the bed, the carpets on the floor, everything.
For a moment, I thought I was in heaven. Because although no one had ever seen it, it was assumed that every part of heaven was white for some reason, just like the room I was in.
" Hello ", a feminine voice reached my ears.
I turned my gaze in its direction and found a girl my age not too far away from me.
Her red hair was long and wavy, gently framing her beautiful oval face. But, what I couldn't get my eyes away from were her eyes which were like a burning fire.
