I've had this job for almost two weeks now. I don't have much work to do. Most of the time I just end up talking to Helen, when I don't have work.
Usually there are meetings to take care of. Lots of meeting to take care of, in fact. Not a day passes without one.
What happened between Ashley and me is at the back of my mind. I know that this isn't the right time to be drooling over a guy. I have to work hard to get that one moth trial for mom.
But it isn't that easy. I've been avoiding William without meaning to and only talk to him when he says something. Otherwise, I've built this barrior between us. But being my boss he was bound to find out sooner or later.
"Are you okay?"
I look up from the papers in my hand and answer. "Yeah. Why?"
William's leaning against the front of the desk with his hands shoved into his pockets. He looks like a...normal guy.
"Nothing. It's just that you've been acting funny and..." I cut in. "Fuuny?"
He sighs and tries to explain. But I don't need an explanantion because I already know what he means.
"You were so happy the first day and now you're always glum." Ofcourse I am. You picked the wrong girl.
His voice puts an end to my thoughts. "Then why the attitude?"
"What attitude? I'm just trying to fit in." I protest in my defence.
"How hard is it to do that? I gave you a cheque on your very first day. I saw to it that the people were kind to you."
"Not all of them." I meant to say it to myself but instead I said it out loud.
I feel like slapping myself. "Has someone been being mean to you?"
I muster all my will power to say no and keep my mouth shut. Despite all the effort after a few seconds the words rush out.
"Can't you see what a bitch Ashley is?"
I clamp a hand over my mouth.
At first Will looks taken aback but then he composes himself and says. "Excuse me."
I know there's no taking back what I just said, so I say. "You heard me. You deserve someone better than Ashley."
He sighs and crosses his arms over his chest. "I know right."
Now it's my turn to be surprised. "But...But you propsed to her."
"What?! Who told you that?!" He exclaims.
"Ashley did." I reply, still not sure what was going on.
He groans and runs his hands through his hair before saying. "That is not true. I would rather marry a cow before even thinking of marrying her."
I laugh at the comparison and so does William. It feels so normal. Just the two of us laughing. When we sober down he says.
"Nothing of that sort is going on. Trust me."
This makes my smile fade. "Why do you care if I believe you or not?" What this about the job?
He can't kick me out!
But mom.
My train of thoughts is interrupted by the strange expression on his face. Words can't explain it.
"What?" I ask him.
He stumbles over his words. I never thought I'd see a prince in such a position.
"I need you to believe me because...If you don't then...Then it would ruin any chances of me being with you."
sorry for the late update. I'll try to update faster.
