"Cassy! Cassy! Come on! Wake up!" Someone shakes my shoulder, making me turn over lazily and look up at who it is. It's Ella.
"Good morning." I call out.
"Wow! You're calm for a person who's getting married today." She says which shatters all the walls I'd built up between me and the queasy feeling in my stomach.
"You just had to remind me didn't you." I groan as she pulls back the curtains and then leaves the room. I stay put for a while willing myself to get up but I just can't bring myself to.
It seems like only yesterday I was a poor, lonely girl who was desperate for money and now I'm getting married to the prince. I knew time changes things but I never expected them to change this much.
Finally making up my mind I get up and go into the washroom, I take my time showering and then getting changed which is my way of saying goodbye to it. When I go back into the room, I find mom waiting for me on my bed with two suitcases.
"You should start packing whatever you plan on taking with you." She says.
I nod my head and walk over to the cupboard holding my clothes. I pull open the doors and start pulling out whatever I need then carry them back to the bed. I make several more journeys from the cupboard to the bed when she speaks again.
"Are you nervous?"
I turn around from where I'm standing and reply. "Maybe. A little."
She sighs. "I just want to tell you that you shouldn't be." After a pause she adds. "These two years you have sacrificed everything for this family. It's about time you got rewarded for that."
I don't know what to say so I just nod. Mom kisses my forehead before leaving the room. I take a deep breath and return to packing my things. After about half an hour I'm almost done when my phone vibrates. I retrieve it from the center of the bed and sit down to check it.
A smile stretches across my face when I see that it's a message from William.
"Done with your packing?"
I shake my head and type. "No."
After that I switch off my phone and finish packing my things. By the time I finish I'm starving. I make myself a sandwich and sit down at the dinning table to eat it. Soon Leo makes an appearance and sits down next to me.
"Can I have that?" He asks.
I know that he's not going to take no for an answer, so I push the plate towards him. "Sure."
We both sit there eating, when mom and Ella join us.
"What time are we supposed to be there?" Ella asks mom.
"Around 4:00, 4:30." She replies, checking her watch and then adds. "It's 12:00 already. We should start getting ready in about an hour. I have to be there before all of you, so get Leo ready and I'll take him with me. You two can take your time then."
Ella nods her head and I mumble an "Okay."
William offered to have a famous designer help me get ready. But I didn't want that for so many reasons and simply because I simply wanted to keep some things my way.
Soon after the other three leave to get ready just like mom suggested and I'm left to my thoughts. The night visit comes to my mind. I sigh at the memory and switch on my phone. There's a text pending from Sophie.
"Do you need any sort of help?"
Anna and Sophie are going to be my bridesmaids. Some part of me wants them to come over, so that we can get ready together but then some part of me reminds me that this is the last time I'll be with Ella for a while. So, I quickly type in a reply.
