Chapter 6

Still Clint and Jeff had their smiles plasterd across their faces as they welcomed me inside.
newt and Gally PLOPED me down on the medjacks table ready for head bandaging.

I just love the word PLOPED so much.

Anyway- back to reality.

Jeff walked over to a cabinet and went rummaging around for something.
"You really are one heck of a clumsy girl Jess" Gally said with a little chuckle.
Jeff came back with a bowl of water and some clean cloth to wipe my head with.

It was still early morning and all of the gladers were out doing their work. Except for me.
I was stuck here with my head being bandaged up because I was such a stupid girl and walked into a tree.

"Next time be more carful" Clint had warned.

Newt helped me up and he and I contined to walk back to the forest area with gally close behind.

"What was it you guys wanted to talk to me about?"

They both turned and faced me. Newt folded his arm and gally be again to move from one foot to the other.

"Well..." I said beginning to become slightly frustrated.

"Gally thinks your evil..." Newt started.

I put on a strange voice and said "oh but I am so evil gally"

"No jess, not like that. I saw you. When I went through the changing. I couldn't be sure but now I am. It was you." Gally said not leaving my eye contact.

I was determined not to blink first and so I began to take a small step closer, hoping to intimate this six foot glader with my hazelnut eyes.

"What exactly did I do?" I said. However my plan wasn't working as gally also took a step closer and was that much taller so I had to look up to him and he had to look down.

"You killed him." Gally to a deep breath "you killed Adam"

Newts expression became more concerned as the seconds of silence grew longer and longer.

I was now only mer centimetres from gally and so I lifted up my fist and brought it up, straight into the side of his face.

Gally managed to move slightly so the punch wasn't as hard as I had hoped.

"What was that for jess?" Gally shouted almost hurt.

"First you want to talk to me and then you say I'm a shucking murderer" I retaliated. "No gally what was that for? I've been here for 2 shucking days and I've already killed someone? That what your saying."

Newt tried to break us apart but we wouldn't let him.

This was getting personal.

"You killed him" was gally's response.

"I don't even know who this Adam dude is"

"He was the one who pleaded for his life as... As...."

"See you don't know what to say"

Gally's face what hurt, like he couldn't say the next words.

"As what?" I said hoping for a better answer.

"As I was order to kill him by you" gally let his eyes fill with tears and for a millisecond he looked so upset, but then his gave changed to anger.

"You worked for them. You worked with WICKED. It's all your fault."

Newt was now standing right in the middle of us.

"You built the maze. You hacked into our brains. You made us kill our friends. It was all you. All you!" I cowered over by his words.

"That's enough gally" newt said raising his voice.

Suddenly my eyes began to fill with tears. I was feeling the reality. Thinking too much, but not overthinking.

What do I believe.

"Come on jess" newt put his arm around my shoulder and turned me around.

I didn't turn around but I could hear gally's feet thudding down onto the ground as he fled in the other direction.

"Are you okay jess" newt had said.

We were walking back from the deadheads and I had stopped.

I lifted my hand up to my chest and lent back against the nearest tree.

"I......can't........breathe........." were the only silent words I managed to get out.

Slowly I sank down the tree and began to shake. I was crying.

Dying from inside to out.

What had I done.
