————————————————————The car ride was rather silent. I felt bad for being unable to start the conversation. But, of course, Ouma took it upon himself to bring up some random topic. That's all it took to spark a long talk that carried us through the car ride.
"So, Shumai, how is everything at home? How are uncle and aunty doing?" Kokichi asked, looking out the window.
"They're good, they're good. How's the doc doing? Your dad?" I replied.
"Oh, my dad's okay, he's been painting a lot more lately. And doc's his normal happy self." Kokichi shifted, he was probably a bit uneasy. Kokichi's father was always a sensitive topic for him. When Kokichi was younger, his mom and dad were always in a rocky relationship. His father would always be working, especially overseas as he was the prince of a far away kingdom. But, after his mother stopped coming around for him, Kokichi's father returned to stay with him until he's eighteen. Speaking of, I wonder if Kokichi's also an ultimate prince, it would make sense. There was a small period of time where neither parent was around for him, this is when he met Doctor D. I remember the doctor as he often took care of Kokichi when we were younger. He would make snacks and help him clean. When Kokichi's father came home, he allowed the Doctor to stay with them. I think they're together but I'm not too sure.
"Hey, Kichi? You never told me your ultimate, I guess no one really said anything about their ultimates today." I chuckled.
"That's a fair question. I'm the ultimate supreme leader." Kokichi responded with a grin. I chuckled.
"I knew you were a great leader. What a peculiar title though. It can't be a blood talent, so it's a random talent?" I asked, rather curious. My own talent was a random talent, as the only person in my family with the same talent as me is my aunt, who was adopted. It just so happened that we got the same talent. The difference between the two is that a blood talent has to be a talent passed down from a parent that has a particularly strong bond with their child. A random talent is just what it sounds like, a random talent that is randomly distributed to you. Of course, for a random talent, you have to be in a specific program from a young age and you have to be tested each year. At the age of 14, they stop testing you and pick a talent for you.
"It's a new form of a blood talent, it's pretty rare to come across actually. It's a mix between my mom and dad's talents. My dad is the ultimate prince and my mom was the ultimate dictator, so I'm the ultimate supreme leader." He smirked, rather wide.
"I'm gonna assume you're an ultimate detective?" He asked, keeping that same smirk.
"Mhm." I simply hummed. "How did you guess?"
"You just give me that vibe I guess." He responded.
"Hey Shumai? I missed you.." Kokichi stated, placing his left hand on my thigh. I blushed softly. I don't think he meant to place his hand there.
"I missed you too, Ko." I responded, paying little to no mind about his hand placement. We neared my house shortly. He looked in awe as he watched the road, almost as if he was questioning if this was real. When we got to my house, he teared up a bit, flashing his genuine smile briefly.
"It hasn't changed a bit.." He stated, his voice trailing off toward the end. For just a moment I saw him as the Kokichi I knew from childhood, a short and skinny pale boy with white-lavender hair and a beautiful case of heterochromia. I smiled at him.
"Welcome home." I simply responded as I unlocked the door to let him in. He smirked, and snatched my cap before dashing inside.
"Hey! Get back here!" I yelled and I quickly followed suit. We ran and played like little kids. Eventually, we ended up in my room, both of us on the bed, extremely sweaty and panting like dogs. I glanced toward my clock in the corner of the room, briefly checking the time. It had already been forty-five minutes. I need to bring Kokichi back before the party starts. I got up, stretching, then looked to Kokichi.
"Hey, what are you doing?" I asked him. He was tapping away at his phone. He glanced to me for a brief moment.
"Ah, sorry Shu I'm texting someone." He replied.
"Who are you talking to?" I asked quietly.
"Uh just someone.." He responded. I grew anxious.
"Who is it?" I asked again, grabbing the phone from his hand. I looked at his phone, then to him. A look of shock was displayed on his face. He had been texting a group chat that was named 'D.I.C.E.' and contained maybe ten people in it.
"H-Hey! Give my phone back!" He shouted, reaching for the phone. Without thinking, I stood tall and held the phone above my head, making sure he couldn't reach it. He jumped and pouted, making such cute faces. I just chuckled and put the phone in my pocket.
"Go wash your ass and then I'll think about giving it back." I responded, handing him his bag that he packed earlier. He grumbled for a bit before taking the bag and going to the bathroom.
I was about to leave for the shower as well until I felt his phone buzz in my pocket. At this point I have to decide on whether or not I want to snoop through his belongings. I thought for a moment and figured that even if I was a bit nosey, he would forgive me, so it should be fine. I took the phone out of my pocket, examining it for a second. It was a decent phone, certainly not top of the line, but still better than what my phone is. It had a purple and white checkered print on the case with a cute purple fluff hall hanging from the corner of the case. Upon further inspection, I noticed finger prints on specific parts of the screen.
I turned on the phone to find that each fingerprint smudge was over a number, so I took the numbers and make a list of the combinations I could use for the password. With the selection I had, one stood out to me. '0621' That's his birthday. I punched it in and surely, it opened. In rolled through the D.I.C.E. group chat and found nothing but stupid dad jokes and pictures. A few cute pictures of Kokichi showing off new outfits and him with his councilmen. There were quite a few pictures of him and his Vice President.
I decided to brush it off, if he didn't say anything to me then it's not important, right? I was just about to put down his phone, it buzzed. The screen was illuminated with a 'new message!' alert. I opened it without thinking, whoever was texting was saved under "Babe <3". For some reason, reading that made my blood boil. I couldn't help but get angry to think that Kokichi was with someone other than me. I put the phone down, resisting the urge to text back.
I grabbed my things and went to shower. After my shower, I came out in my navy blue flannel pajama pants and a white tank top. Kokichi was sitting on my bed, phone in hand. He looked adorable, wearing a cute purple and lavender checkered pajama set. I smiled at him and he returned the smile. He looked down to his phone once again, sending another text.
"Ready to go?" I asked him, jingling my car keys in front of him.
"Almost.." He replied, continuing to text. I glanced at his phone to see he was texting "Babe <3" again.
"Kichi?"
"Yes Shumai? What's up?" He went to look up at me, but was taken aback by my positioning over him. I was now hovering over him, my face only a few inches away from his. He gave me a cheeky smile.
"Who's babe?" I interrogated. His smile quickly dropped. His pupils began to diminish slowly. He never broke eye contact, but instead began to get somewhat fidgety.
"What do you mean Shuichi? Who's babe?" He questioned back, his personality quickly switching into a joking mood. This was a defense mechanism that Kokichi used even when we were younger. I sighed before pushing him back on the bed and holding him there. He gasped but kept his cool.
"Who is babe?" I questioned once more, this time my hand slightly digging into his shoulder. He winced a bit.
"O-okay! It's.."
