Tomorrow came quicker than I thought it would. After last night's round of embarrassing events I went straight to sleep.
I got up and headed towards the training grounds to start my morning routine. I would do a round of training and then head to the showers with everyone else. Today I decided it would be best to skip breakfast and instead went outside to get what I thought of as a better breakfast. Nicotine.
It certainly wasn't healthy and it would one day kill me for sure but when you live in a world full of human eating monsters it was always more likely you would die from one of them instead.
I took the white and brown coloured straight from the box and lit it up. After taking a big drag I sighed.
"That was a loud sigh." Hange giggled. She must be feeling better since last night.
"Yeah." I sighed again accept this time quieter.
"So, what's caused you sigh like that?" She asked.
"Well after I left you last night" My sentence got cut short by a deeper more masculine voice. The captains voice.
"Morning y/n." He said standing next to me on the opposite side to Hange. He too took a cigarette out of a box and lit it up.
I hung my head down taking a much bigger drag this time. As I blew it out Hange started coughing jokingly.
"You're gonna kill me if you keep blowing smoke at me!" She said playfully.
"Sorry Hange." I apologised with a smile. I moved so when I took a drag it wouldn't blow towards her.
"I didn't see you there four-eyes" Levi said taking a drag of his own.
"Well maybe you need some of these then" Hange said pointing at her glasses while sticking her tongue out. They both continued to bicker for a little longer whilst I finished my cigarette.
"Right I'm heading off now Hange are you coming?" I asked now board of them fighting with each other.
"Yeah I'm coming!" She looked so happy to start working again. She really does love her job here. Her eyes were so bright I swear I could've seen sparkles in them.
"Y/n, stop by my office after you've had your evening meal." Levi said stomping out his cigarette butt and picking it back up to put it in the bin.
"Yes sir." I saluted. Some times I forget he's my Captain and that saluting him is something I have to do.
He just brushed off my salute and headed back inside before me and Hange could.
"So what you're saying is that they might have brains that work similar to humans?" I asked Hange. It was a little later into the day now and me and Hange had been working on her new theory that titans could learn things.
"Well sort of." She shrugged. "I might just be reading too much into it. Maybe it was just an abnormal and I had just happened to see it doing it's abnormal things." I laughed slightly at the last sentence.
"Abnormal things." I repeated and laughed a bit more. "But really, if they can climb this is something that we have to investigate as that could mean they could climb over that walls."
"You make a good point there y/n." Why did my name sound so good when she said it?
I was cut out of my thoughts by the evening bell.
"I'll make note of it and we can revisit it later. You've got to get some food for now. You haven't eaten all day." She sounded a little worried when she said the last line.
"Yeah, alright I'll go get some food. I'll stop by a little later on. See you in a bit." I said just before leaving her office.
I got half way down the hallway and realised I had left my jacket there. I saw no point in going back for it now after all I would be going back soon anyway.
I reached the mess hall and joined the cue for food. Unlike the squad leaders us regular scouts have to line up like school children to get our food.
Once I had got my meal, soup with a bit of bread, I chose a seat next to Petra and the rest of my old squad. Captain Levi sat at the head of the table with his leg over the other and drinking tea as usual. I don't think I've ever seen that man eat something in the two years I've been in his squad. They welcomed me to the table and we had a conversation about the new recruits.
"I think the one over there with the brown curly hair is really attractive" Petra whispered to me.
"Suddenly gone off the captain?" I whispered back. It was no secret that she loved the captain. Half of the time he is all she would talk about.
She turned a bright red and replied with, "No, well, I'm not sure I like him like that anymore." I gave her a shocked look.
"Wait really!?"
"Yeah, I'm not sure but after someone you really like gives you cleaning duty for a month you start to question your love for them, you know?" I laughed slightly at her words.
"I see what you mean." We both laughed for a little bit until the bell rung again to signal the end of our evening meal.
"Right then I best be off before the Captain woops my ass for being late." I said getting up.
"Have fun with that y/n." Petra giggled before getting up and leaving herself.
I made my way towards Levi's office to go see him like he asked. I couldn't get the embarrassing memories of the previous night out of my mind as I knocked on the door.
"Name and business" He called from the other side of the door.
