Just on the horizon of the sea, there's an island that sits near the Mainlands. It wasn't a small island, but it wasn't too big either. It was home to a few people, or Mobians in this case. The world, planet Mobius, is the home to thousands upon millions of beings known as Mobians. As for the island in question, it's known as South Island. It's known to be a peaceful place surrounded by life, plants, and wonderful scenery. Its people are nice and kind to those who come to visit at any time. It sounds like a wonderful place to live, but this is from a different point of view, a far away perspective of the island.

Upon closer inspection, at least for today, something was not right. Normally there would be the sound of water running, or the birds singing as they flew into the air. However, it was not like this. Instead of birds flying in the air, there was a large airship suspended in the air above the island. What could be heard was the screams, shouts as weapons fired off from those things marching on the ground. They were mechanical, wielding laser weapons as they fired at the people on the ground. It was a frantic scene, the mobians moving to avoid being targeted or even being captured. There were many possibilities, being hit with a laser, falling to the ground, or bumping into others or the mechs amongst the chaos.

While the chaos continued, homes were being burned and destroyed. Only a few had managed to get away from the area. Others were not so lucky, being captured in what seemed to be energy powered cages. As they were being lifted up, a being was moving downwards in what seemed to be his own vehicle of transport. When they saw this person, they gasped in fear. The being had a sinister grin across his face as he looked down at the remains as he began to laugh. His laugh grew into a more maniacal laugh, like he was losing his mind or finding this to his own joy.

"Finally! I now have possession of the technology to do what I've been after all these years!" The man laughed as he watched the mobians running around. "I'll soon be able to use my tech to create more mechs, take over the world, and then the universe!" He continued to laugh before letting out a sigh. "But first, I'll have to work my way up." He said as he continued to watch. At that moment, another mobian was running before stopping as he faced the mad man.

He shouted at the man, "You're a monster if you're doing this! We lived in peace and harmony for years, and then you showed up!" The man looked over at the mobian, who looked like a brown hedgehog.

"Oh really? Did you really think things will stay the same for as long as you think?" He asked before pulling out a laser gun from his vehicle, shooting at the mobian.

A red beam was fired, hitting the mobian in his arm. This made him fall to his knees, holding his now injured arm. "W-Who are you...?" The injured mobian asked.

The madman began to laugh, standing up out of his seat. "I am Dr. Eggman! Soon to be the emperor of this world and universe!" He announced. This man was tall and pretty slim. He wore what seemed to be a stylish red lab jacket with golden bolts and white straps on them. His face however looked quite power hungry. He had a pair of scientific goggles resting on his head, on top of his dark blondish hair. He had green eyes behind the blue shades he wore, shifting them a bit before pointing down at the mobian.

As he did, three mechs landed down, circling around the hedgehog as they raised their weapons. Slowly, they began to gather energy, letting off a low hum. "Hmm, I don't think I need him." Dr. Eggman said, sitting back down in the floating vehicle he was in. "You can dispose of him."

The look of the mobian's face was a mixture of surprise and disgust. "You... You are a monster!" He shouted, closing his eyes as he waited for the inevitable.

"Maybe I am. Maybe I'm not." Eggman said as he shrugged. "You have no idea and you certainly will never find out." He then grinned, his grin growing as he watched the lasers power up. They began to emit a red light, ready to fire.
