by the time the pair had laughed until their stomachs felt tight and ached and smiled till they could no longer, the sky had turned dark, speckled with starry freckles. cool air hit their faces as they stepped outside the shop's door, the day had ended, so had their time together.

sunghoon looked at jakes face before gazing into his deep eyes, smiling again with the same smile jake had seen at least 100 times today, and ruffling his hair, saying his goodbye and see you soon.

see you soon.
see you again.

such comforting words to a boy like jake.

"see you too."

he replied with bright eyes and a flushed face, both walking in opposite directions.

jake wandered the empty streets, the air so refreshing. the road dimly lit with the warm streetlights lighting up his path, he wandered, with no intentions of returning home yet, or so his new home - that didn't feel like home. once again, he felt confused and lost and without sunghoon's presence he felt so so

lonely.

the empty feeling that was left when they said their goodbyes was like a endless hole, falling into an eternal feeling of despair, waiting to be reunited again. like a part of you was taken away and waiting for it to be returned. the feeling was hollow and dull, no other way to describe it but

lonely again.

even with the hours spent together, it felt like the more time you give each other the more empty you feel inside afterwards. maybe it's just the lost and afraid feelings of existing, emerging now, but perhaps, it's the simple idea of being together when you can't that pains him.

is it feeling lonely or being lonely ?

are you lonely, jake ?

" you have reached your destination ."

his phone glowed in the dark, he had to use maps to get home, still unfamiliar with this foreign place.

jake had finally made it to his 'home'... at 2 in the morning after wandering the streets of seoul for the past few hours. none of his parents had called him to ask where he was, why he missed school, not even his brother. he wasn't surprised, he never got attention growing up, he would just be called dramatic - so he tried his best to stay quiet, rarely giving out his opinions and everyone ended up thinking he was the weird shy boy in their class.

he layed in bed, his blazer half off, tie loosened and the top 2 buttons of his shirt undone, he felt
exhausted, more so than ever. jake was tired, but his thoughts kept him awake. he thought about sunghoon. he started getting curious about this morning, why he suddenly burst into tears, what really happened ?

he wouldn't ask him, but he couldn't let go of the thought. he decided whatever it was about it wasn't his business anyways and he threw his blazer to the end of his bed before curling himself up, holding himself, in attempt to sleep in the little time he had left before the sun rose indicating another school day.

the sunlight fell upon his skin, the warmth awakening jake from his slumber - easily illuminating his entire bedroom, which contained the bare minimum of a bedroom, a basic bed and a couple boxes empty or filled with his belongings, he didn't know. the place looked plain and was awaiting to be filled with the things
he liked and were associated with, then he would maybe call it a home. still, there was no time to dream of how he would decorate and organise his room, with his sudden and late move to here, he had school to go to and no time to daydream.

he stumbled along the entryway of the house, forcing his shoes to slide on his feet and balancing his backpack on one shoulder. and now, he is was not particularly late, but rather eager. eager to see a certain black haired male with a middle parting, that was around a couple centimetres taller than him with two moles and big pretty eyes.

after getting lost in the neighbourhood at least three times, jake arrived at school, his hair all a mess and out of breath. he leant down placing his hands on his knees to catch his breath, struggling to say the least. a hand patted his back, like simple reassurance - jake quickly calmed himself down and was met with an unfamiliar face, his features were sharp and hair so dark - he looked quite intimidating.

before jake could even say his thank you, he smiled and his intimidating impression disappeared, as he asked

"are you okay ?"

jake just nodded, becoming shy in an instance. he wanted to look for sunghoon, letting his eyes wander around for him he almost forgot about the boy standing in front of him.

"oh my god.. are you new?"

jake was in utter confusion for a whole two and a half seconds, his english sounded so american.

"you can speak english?"

"yes.. and you can too?"

the two boys stared at each other in immediate shock, it was all a coincidence and it just happened to bring them together. now, they sat in class a couple seats away from each other. jake had found out his name was jay park, park like park sunghoon... and oh.. he was thinking about him again. he couldn't help it anymore, this boy was stuck in his head and he just couldn't forget.

he shifted around on his seat, glancing across the now filled classroom to spot sunghoon, the seat behind him was untouched and had no one sitting on it, it was nearly homeroom. he guessed he was late, again. and layed his head down onto his desk ready to fall asleep, hoping to be waken up by him and for him to be the first thing he sees when he opens his eyes.

but in fact, he was so very wrong. he was awakened by the very irritating school bell, and still no sight of park sunghoon — he felt disappointed at himself, for expecting so much from a someone he recently met. was it wrong to look forward to seeing them again?

why did it feel so wrong?
