how long has it been? since the last time you felt so close to someone?
the pair walked side by side, down the streets with low-lit lamps hovering above, the air was humid, sticky almost. maybe it was the tension between them. jakes body felt hot from the inside out, his mouth aching agonisingly, yet salivating for the flavour of sunghoon's lips.
sunghoon's head falling apart into a million pieces and being carefully glued back together with these new moments shared between the two boys, like he can finally forget that repulsive feeling of being alone. to feel just a tiny bit significant to someone compared to being completely surrounded with people who didn't actually care about you made him the happiest he's probably ever been in a very long time.
"jake."
he paused, holding his breathe - preparing himself and abruptly stopped walking, the brunette looked back with wide eyes, those wide eyes that always look at him attentively. his curious expression asking 'what is it?'.
"i wanted to tell you something.."
jake nodded softly in response. the pathway was quiet, he could only hear faint noises of cars in the distance. the sky was a light purple and blue hue, you would see the stars appear if you waited just a little longer, it's not day and it's not night yet, it's the perfect time in between, like a dream.
"do you remember the first time we met?"
the other nodded once again, a little confused about where this conversation was going.
"well, you remember that time in the bathroom yeah...?"
"of course.."
"uh.. i just wanted to say..."
he paused, rethinking his choice of words.
"...thank you. really, thank you. for coming after me that day...and holding me and saying it will be okay."
jake smiled affectionately.
"it really is okay now, i'm okay now... cause you're here now,"
he whispered the last part, mostly to himself but at the same time he wanted jake to hear it. hopefully, he got the message.
jake knew, oh he knew. to be in a room full of people who knew you, but didn't care about you. to be alone with nothing but yourself and tiny trails of 'what if?' thoughts - with the whole universe acting against you. it's the absolute worst, he feels nauseous just thinking about it.
