"What if one of my cousins falls in love with me?"

"What?" Rhea's mother looked up from the book she was reading.

"My cousins! They won't know I'm related to them, so what if they fall in love with me?" Rhea exclaimed, the thought having struck her when she walked down the stairs.

"Why would they fall in love with you?" Seraphina asked confusedly, frowning as she looked at her daughter's distressed face.

"Look at me, mum," Rhea deadpanned, motioning to herself. Rhea Black had been blessed with her father's aristocratic features, dark hair and startling grey eyes. The only thing she'd inherited from her mother was the shape of her nose and mouth. "I'm really cute."

"Just be yourself and I promise you, they won't fall in love with you," Lyra said from where sat with her legs stretched out across the couch. Rhea just glared at her, before sticking out her tongue at her aunt.

Instead of being of any help, Seraphina said, "Your father's parents were cousins. It's quite common for purebloods to marry family members."

Rhea picked up a pillow from the armchair and threw it at her mother. Seraphina did not even look up from the book, she only brought her hand up to slow down the pillow and with a flick of her wrist it flew back and smacked Rhea in the face, causing her to stumble and fall into the armchair.

A familiar knock on the door caused Rhea to fly out of her chair and run towards the front door. Her eyes immediately landed on the old and battered hat that was patched, frayed and extremely dirty. "That's the Sorting Hat?" she was slightly surprised. Rhea hadn't expected it to look so normal.

"It is indeed, dear Rhea," Dumbledore's blue eyes twinkled underneath his half-moon glasses. At those words the young witch dragged the Headmaster towards the living room.

"Rhea, be careful with Dumbledore," Seraphina scolded her daughter. "He is not one-hundred years old anymore."

Rhea gave the old man a sheepish smile. "So, how does this work?" she asked, not certain of the exact details of the ceremony.

"We will place the Sorting Hat on your head and it will determine if you are brave like a Gryffindor, loyal like a Hufflepuff, wise like Ravenclaw or amazing like a Slytherin," Seraphina explained, earning a raised eyebrow from Dumbledore. "Amazing and cunning like a Slytherin then."

From what Rhea understood there was definitely a lot of rivalry between the Hogwarts Houses, mainly Gryffindor and Slytherin. Her mother had been a Slytherin and so had many of her ancestors. The Black Family had been in Slytherin for generations until Sirius Black was sorted into Gryffindor and practically disowned. Most of her mother's friends had been in Gryffindor, and so had everyone in the Weasley Family.
