"Are you still moping?"
Seraphina sent Lyra a harsh glare from where she was laying on her back under the kitchen sink, trying to fix a leak. "I am not moping," Seraphina mumbled.
"No, you're being your normally not-so-cheery-but-at-least-not-this-depressed-self," Lyra rolled her eyes. "You're making me miss those neurotic days after Rhea wrote to you about Black breaking into the castle."
It was safe to say that Seraphina and Lyra didn't receive a lot of letters. With everyone in the world thinking they were dead, the only one who wrote to them was Rhea and her letters always needed to be kept as vague as possible if the owl carrying them somehow managed to get intercepted.
So when Frodo, Rhea's owl, came flying through the kitchen window that morning, Seraphina was filled with excitement. It was always the highlight of her week to hear about how her daughter was doing at Hogwarts. But her excitement was quickly replaced by worry as she skimmed over Rhea's words.
"What is it?" Lyra asked, noticing how the blonde woman had become unusually pale.
"Sirius broke into the castle," Seraphina whispered. "He tried to get into the Gryffindor Common Room."
"Why?" Lyra frowned.
"I don't know!" Seraphina exclaimed, running a hand through her hair. Was he trying to get to Harry? It was the only reason Sirius would risk going anywhere near Hogwarts with all the dementors patrolling around the grounds. But why? "Dumbledore promised Hogwarts would be safe! I can't believe I trusted that old bat with my daughter's safety. I have to go get here-"
"No, no, no," Lyra told her, standing up as well.
"She's clearly not safe at Hogwarts-" Seraphina started.
"Listen to me," Lyra said firmly. "You're worried about your daughter, I get it. That girl is the only person in the world that I've never wanted to punch-"
"What about me?" Seraphina asked, a little offended.
"I stand by what I said," Lyra told her. "But back to the point— if Sirius broke into the castle the security around Hogwarts will have doubled. So unless you want Rhea to have two parents in Azkaban, I suggest you calm down."
"You just expect me to do nothing?" Seraphina asked disbelievingly.
"Yes!" Lyra exclaimed. "Black doesn't even know that he has a daughter so Rhea is safe-"
"I'm worried about Harry too-"
"—and you've said it yourself that you don't think Black is the villain everyone paints him as," Lyra argued. "So just try to calm the bloody hell down."
