Sirius Black still couldn't get the image of those grey eyes out of his head as he ran away from the castle after his failed attempt to find Pettigrew.

For months now, all he'd been able to think about was getting justice for what that traitor did to Lily and James; it had been one of the few things that kept him sane during those twelve years he'd been locked in Azkaban. And he had been so close to finally killing that traitorous rat. Having gotten his hands on the passwords for the Gryffindor Tower, Sirius finally thought he'd be able to finish what he started twelve years ago after the tragic death of his best friends.

Sirius didn't believe his eyes when he saw the picture of Pettigrew in the Daily Prophet. At first, he'd merely been shocked by the sight of a group of gingers looking back at him, smiling widely at the camera as they stood in front of some pyramids in Egypt — The Weasley family.

Not a day had gone by without Sirius thinking about Seraphina. The healthy thing would probably have been to try to forget about her. But truth be told, Sirius doubted he could have gotten over her even if he hadn't been in jail. A part of him died weeks before he was thrown in Azkaban.

In the beginning, the grief had been overwhelming but with the years it turned into a constant ache in his chest. Then he saw the picture of the Weasley family in the Daily Prophet and the pain seemed fresh again. Sirius couldn't claim to have known Sera's family well, other than meeting them briefly a handful of times, but instantly made him think of the life he could have had with Sera.

Seeing Bill, Charlie and Percy Weasley felt like a slap of reality — evidence of how much time that had passed. They had all been children when Sirius last saw them and now Bill and Charlie were grown men — he could only imagine what Seraphina would have said if she saw them now, knowing how much she loved those boys.

Then Sirius had spotted the rat in the youngest Weasley boy's hands and he couldn't believe his own eyes. Of all the wizard families Peter could have hidden with after the war, he chose Seraphina's. For some reason that filled Sirius with more rage than he could describe.

So after years of imprisonment, Sirius escaped with the one goal to hunt Pettigrew down and kill him for betraying James and Lily to Voldemort. Yet for some reason, disappointment and anger wasn't the main emotion after he failed to locate Peter in the boy's dormitory because all Sirius could think about was those eyes.

Having spent a lot of time — some would say an unhealthy amount of time — looking at himself through the mirror during his teenage years, Sirius instantly recognised them.
His family wasn't the only ones in the world with grey eyes, but something about the shade and shape of the young girl's grey eyes felt all too familiar.
