DOUXIE CASPERAN

My emotions were warring with each other. Pride, humility and butterflies. Is butterflies an emotion? Because that was how I felt when Angelique touched my shoulder. I shook my head and focused at the task at hand.

I poured the hot metal into the back of the Trollhunter amulet and Merlin placed the gem on top of it. Sweat beaded my eyebrow as we both lowered all the other Trollhunter amulet parts on to it one by one. They click together like pieces of puzzles. Though I don't look up I know Angelique is watching with Archie on her shoulder.

We lower the amulet even further and it rests on the table.

"Ad Lucem Gloria Mea." Merlin chanted.

"Ad Lucem Gloria Mea." I repeated after him, pointing my staff at it too.

I felt the familiar rush of magic coursing through me as I focused on the amulet.

"Ad Lucem Gloria Mea." Merlin said one more time his staff crossed over mine.

The little clock hands on the amulet spun rapidly and I shield myself from the blinding blue explosion. When I look again the amulet is glowing, and floating in the air, wisps of raw blue magic exuding from it.

"The amulet in all of it's glory." I heard Angelique whisper.

"Now come along." Merlin glanced at me then at the demigod, "It is time for the amulet to choose our champion."

Merlin left the study room first but me, my familiar, and Angelique lingered behind for a moment.

Angelique offered me a lopsided smile that made my heart jump, "I didn't think I would witness you becoming a master wizard, but, I'm glad I did."

"Me too." I said without thinking.

~Small time skip~

Back in Dwoza for the second time, Merlin and Angelique stood beside me. I held the Trollhunter's Amulet high enough for all the trolls to see.

"Today, the amulet will choose one of you to defend your people, to hunt these trolls who have betrayed your kind." Merlin strolled through the crowd of trolls and they moved aside for him, You will no longer fear the daylight. You will wield it as the Trollhunter."

"For the Glory of Merlin..." I held out the amulet and released it, "awake."

The amulet shot out of my hand and headed over to the big blue troll first who looked about ready to grab it then whisked away moving over each of the trolls heads. Suddenly it shot up like a rocket.

Angelique's brown eyes widened, "Callista."

Indeed, it was moving toward the light green troll whose violet eyes widened even more than my best friend's.

The amulet stopped moving like it made a choice. A burst of blue light confirmed it.

"Rise, Trollhunter... and become." said Merlin's disembodied voice.

"Uh, I think your amulet has the wrong troll." Callista said sounding utterly confused.

Merlin frowned, "No, the amulet does not make mistakes. For whatever reason, it has chosen you."

Callista looked at the amulet in wonder.

"Speak the incantation. Find your purpose, the savior of our worlds." Merlin continued.

Callista scoffed, "Me? I've never been chosen for anything. 'For the Glory of-.'"
