ANGELIQUE LE

"What in the Hades happened here?" I said, though I already knew.

Hex Tech was in flames and spires of ice loomed everywhere. Only one possible thing could have happened. The Arcane order.

My friends were abducted.

Douxie clutched the Seals tighter. "No! No, no, no. No, no, no! No!"

Archie flew behind us as we ran as fast as we could. I got there first, kicking the glass door open. I imagined in other circumstances Douxie would have rolled his eyes and said something like, you're being unnecessary. But right now, neither of us cared for anything else.

My mind was already running and analyzing, clicking all the pieces together. So the Arcane Order attacked, with fire and ice. I thought about what I would have done if I was the enemy. I would have kept them alive, as emotional anchors and hostages. Or... I would have accidentally killed them.

I winced. Sometimes it was scary how much I could think like the enemy.

"Claire!" Douxie yelled, "Steve! Nari! What happened here?"

We saw Krel at the same time as each other. He was moaning, frozen in a jagged peak of ice.

Douxie rushed to his side first.

"Step back," I said, my hands outstretched.

Douxie did as I instructed. Controlling ice for me, was much harder than water, but definitely not impossible. Ice is just frozen water after all. I concentrated and fissures started from the bottom traveling up to the top. Then finally, the ice broke down into jagged shards. I caught Krel in my arms before he hit the floor.

"Krel," I whispered. "What happened?"

"Oof. Couldn't stop them. Took Nari." Krel suddenly seemed to regain all his energy as he shot to his feet. "Oh, wait! He can show you."

Me and Douxie shared a quick look of confusion before we followed him and much to my surprise, we saw the severed head of one of Krel's many robots.

It lay on the floor buzzing and convulsing. Which did not convince me that it could show us anything.

Krel picked the head up and it smiled, showing pearly white teeth. "Wahoo! How are you, buckaroo?"

I crossed my arms and said skeptically, "I don't see how it's going to help."

Then one of it's eyes glowed a bright blue and the projector before us began to play a recording.

Typical, it begins to help just when I say it probably can't.

I watched the recording, which was basically showing footage of Krel and the others running around, screaming.
