ANGELIQUE LE

I paced around the deck of the ship. Douxie's 'plan' is suicide. I tried to be supportive but I just couldn't hold it in anymore.

"There's too many flaws!" I blurted out, "For one, saying that the Arcane Order doesn't take 'Nari' by force, are you just going to let them take your familia-"

"You said life is about taking risks." Douxie said calmly.

"I didn't say life is about making stupid risks!"

"Who are you to say what is stupid?"

"I know a flawed plan when I see one!"

"Then you will figure out if it's flawed or not once you see it!"

"See what?" I snapped, "Murder? Chaos?"

"ENOUGH!"

We both looked at Merlin, our glares now directed at him.

"I have concerns about this cockamamy plan of Hisirdoux's too. We're headed right into the lion's den."

I gave Douxie a smug look, like, see?

"You gave me a staff because you trusted me, right? So, trust me." Douxie said.

"Very well. I stand by your decision... wizard."

OKAY, now he was playing sides. I huffed and looked away, gripping my blades tighter.

Douxie didn't bother looking at me either.

"Everyone knows what they need to do. If we pull this off, we'll get Jim back." Douxie said out loud.

"If." I muttered under my breath. Either Douxie didn't hear me, or ignored me.

If something goes wrong, I'm saving Hazardhead last. Reckless really is his middle name. Claire approached me, with sad puppy eyes.

"Angelique, I have doubts too, but if we all work together as a team, meaning you too, it might work."

My anger ceased to exist, I couldn't be angry now even if I tried, "Fine."

I know my part, and I'll play it. I took petty satisfaction when I saw that Douxie had a little fear and doubt in his eyes too. No matter how much I wanted to comfort him at the same time. Or hold his hand.

I almost punched myself, but I ran a hand through my hair instead, Di immortales, what is wrong with my thoughts nowadays?

Surrounded by the clouds, the Arcane Order's castle was looming in the distance. Why couldn't I just let go of the horrible gut feeling I was getting?

Douxie cleared his throat, "Arcane Order! We're here to barter!"

The eyes of the skull flashed orange. Douxie gestured to the opening jaw, "And that means 'come in'."

"Wait, we're flying into the bitey devil castle?" Steve said sounding surprised. I guess he's alway unprepared. No one answered him because the answer was quite obvious.

Merlin steered the ship into the jaw and the ship landed smoothly. All of us jumped off while Steve fell off.

"Ow! Uh, this is supes dumb. Like, even I know it's dumb, and we're still gonna go inside?" Steve whimpered.

I sighed and followed Douxie. We approached a cavernous room, and I mean literally. It looked like the interior of a cave. A bit of blue light shone through the stone ceiling. An ominous kind of air hung around us.

Douxie's amber eyes darted around, "It's quiet, isn't it?"

I looked behind us searching and analyzing. So far I see no exit. The door behind us is shut. Probably locked too, the Arcane Order has no intentions of letting us go.
