2 years later

Sousuke and Rin was in the hospital room, sitting on the bed whilst Rin told nice stories about Australia and their friends. Of course, Sousuke loved to listen to these stories and even the Doctor has gotten used to seeing Rin around lately. And of course, Rin forgave Sousuke for not telling him about having Dementia. But, Rin did feel quite guilty about how he didn't find out earlier but he tried to ignore that guilt, wanting to stay by Sousuke to watch him beat this horrible mind game which is trying to take over him. Yet, Rin always had that sickening feeling that Sousuke will never beat it, he's already halfway through the stages too. And the next event did not help.

The doctor entered the room, explaining to Rin how he needs to check up on Sousuke. Of course, this was normal so Rin stood up and left the room, waiting for the doctor to leave. And after 12 minutes, he did. Instantly, Rin shot up, clearly wanting to hear what happened but then instantly sat back down when he saw an upset expression on the doctors face. "Mr Matsuoka..." Rin sighed a bit, knowing what he was going to say. "Let me guess, stage 5?" The doctor nodded a bit, causing Rin to instantly burry his face in his hands whilst tears fell out once again. "I knew it...I always promised him I'll be there to watch him beat this terrible thing but...that day will never happen, will it?" The doctor walked over and patted Rin's back gently. "That doesn't mean you can't go out and have fun with him. Plus, I probably shouldn't be the one to say this but before didn't you both say you like each other yet you still aren't dating?" Rin gasped a little, wiping his eyes. "I'm just scared...he'll forget about me." Then, the doctor smiled reassuringly at Rin. "Matsuoka, if he hasn't forgotten your name by now, I believe he won't ever forget." Rin smiled softly at the thought. "Hey Doc, could I take Sousuke somewhere else? Possibly a more crowded place?" The doctor nodded once more. "Just stay by his side the whole time and make sure he's back by at least 7pm." Rin's smile grew bright as he nodded and ran into the room. Sousuke looked up at him and then almost fell when Rin started to drag him out of the room. "Rin? Where are we going?" Rin looked at Sousuke with a sweet smile. "We're going out! For a day I can guarantee you will never forget!"

Rin and Sousuke took the bus to the town, looking around whilst Rin brought him into almost every store (Yes he had money on him). They were carrying bags and bags full of stuff for the both of them to have a picnic. Then, they made their way to the park.

Once they got there, Rin put down the blanket, both of them sitting down on top of it, Rin sorting out all the food they got. Then, Sousuke started speaking. "Rin, why does that man keep questioning me?" Rin gasped a little, surprised that Sousuke did not know. "Um, you know why you stay there right?" Sousuke shook his head in reply. "I thought that was where I lived?" Rin couldn't help but feel even more guilt inside of him. He never thought that it would get to the point where Sousuke thought the hospital was his home. Rin knew Sousuke's parents had asked the doctor if he could stay in the hospital since they couldn't handle the pain of him having to go through this but they do visit whenever they can so Rin thought Sousuke would at least understand the hospital was his care place, not home. "Sousuke... The hospital is not your house...You live with your parents but they couldn't handle the pain." Sousuke raised an eyebrow. "What pain?" Rin sighed a bit. "I'll tell you tomorrow, ok? Right now let's just have fun." Sousuke nodded. The day had just started.

All throughout the day, Sousuke and Rin stayed at the park, eating, laughing and watching videos together. Then, Rin thought of something. "Sousuke, you see those shops over there?" Rin pointed at a couple of shops which were lined up and Sousuke nodded. "I'm going to them, you stay here and continue watching videos." Once more, Sousuke nodded, waving at Rin as he stood to go shops. Once he got there, he turned back and looked into the distance to see Sousuke sitting down on Rin's phone still. Rin smiled a little as he walked into the shops. After 17 minutes, he left, carrying two bags. He could see Sousuke in the same spot so he made his way over. Once he got there, he sat down and opened the bags. "Fireworks...?" Sousuke read the side of the packaging, raising an eyebrow at Rin who was smiling. "Since it's Winter it will get dark before 7pm which is the time we need to go back so I thought why not have fireworks as an end to our day!" Rin's smile grew brighter, Sousuke looking back at the packet. "Oh, alright." Then, they waited for the darkness to arise.

It was 6pm when the sun fell. The sky was bright enough to see around but dark enough to believe it's 8pm in Summer. Rin decided to wait a little longer to set off the fireworks and chose to use the time to tidy up. "We should start putting this away, Sousuke." Sousuke nodded as he stood up, Rin collecting all empty food and drink packets as he headed to the bin. "Yo Sousuke, can you roll up the blanket?" Sousuke nodded once more and did as asked whilst Rin headed to the bin, throwing away all the packets and walking back to Sousuke who was mid-way rolling it up. Then, Rin took over. "Thanks, Sousuke. I'll do the rest." Sousuke took a step back and looked up into the sky, watching the stars like he's never seen them before. "Think it's a good time for the fireworks?" Rin nudged Sousuke's side a little, holding an unlit lighter. "I guess so." Rin smiled a bit and picked up the pack of fireworks and walked a bit in front. "This is meant to fire off 100 so you'll want to stand back or you might burst your eardrums." Rin laughed a little and Sousuke took a few steps back. "This says it gives me 10 seconds to get back luckily... Alright, you ready Sousuke?" The taller boy nodded as Rin lit up the string, getting back instantly to stand next to Sousuke. And once both boys were standing next to each other and looking up at the sky, the first one shot up.

Every inch of the sky in the boys sight were filled with colours, their eyes reflecting off it. Rin turned to look at Sousuke who was stuck looking at the atmosphere above him, his facial expression showing all the feelings he is unable to show. Rin smiled softly at the sight and looked back up at the sky until he was distracted by a soft touch on his cheek forcing him to turn his head back at where it just was facing. But this time Sousuke was facing him too. Only for a split second before his eyes slowly shut. However, Rin's eyes were glued open as he felt something different than a hand touch his face. Sousuke slowly leaned back and smiled a little at Rin. "Thank you, Rin, for this day." Rin's hand followed up to his own lips, gently dabbing then and his face turning red once it really hit him. "Sousuke you..." Rin looked up into Sousuke's eyes as he felt his face become warmer. "Why did you..." Sousuke leaned forwards a little, his eyes focusing on Rin's, the fireworks becoming the audience. "It was my way of thanking you." Rin couldn't help but become more red. Then, the same thing happened again. But this time, Rin closed his eyes too, the final and most extensive fireworks blew, watching Sousuke hold Rin up as they bent over a little and Rin's arms wrapped around Sousuke's neck, mouth on mouth, kissing.

The two boys made their way back to the hospital, hand in hand. They stayed like this until they entered the hospital room 109, not caring about who saw them. Once they entered the hospital room, Sousuke took a seat on the bed again and Rin reached into his pocket. "Yo Sousuke!" The black haired boy looked over at Rin who placed a small snow globe on one of the seats. "This is for you." Rin smiled softly, looking back over at Sousuke who was now grinning a little. "Thank you..." Rin was about to leave until something pulled him back. He looked behind to see Sousuke now standing, his hand wrapped around Rin's arm. "Sousuke?" Rin noticed Sousuke's face was a tiny bit red and smiled a little. Yet, that smile turned into embarrassment when Sousuke spoke again. "Instead of just saying goodbye...can we kiss instead?" Rin was frozen for a second before a small laugh escaped. "That's very different for you to say... Alright then, if you want to." Both boys stared at each other for a moment before their mouths conjoined once more for that day. Then, around 5 seconds later, they backed away. Rin smiled as he hugged Sousuke for a second and waved. "I'll see you tomorrow!" Sousuke waved back slightly, smiling softly. "Yeah, see you..." Then, Rin left.
