Finally, it was time to get on the plane. The 3 Matsuoka's took their seats and rested back their heads. Rin closed his eyes, imagining the looks on his friends faces when he gave them the gifts he won for them at the arcade. But, he'd have to wait for ages since the flight would be 9 hours and by the time he got to Japan, it would be 11pm (His flight was at 4pm and since Japan is 2 hours behind Australia in time, it will be 11pm when he gets back) so he'd have to wait until mid-day tomorrow to give them their stuff since he'd need to unpack first thing in the morning. Then, when Rin closed his eyes, the plane took off.
It was 11:47pm when they got home. They swatch on the lights and Rin instantly made his way to his room, placing down his suitcase next to his wardrobe. Then, he jumped onto his bed, sighing as he shut his eyes and tried to drift off to sleep. But, he couldn't. He couldn't help but be worried for Sousuke. He still hasn't received a message from Momo nor Nitori about the older boy for 2 weeks. But, he was glad he could talk to him again tomorrow. Just a few more hours and they could see each other again. But, one thing was scaring Rin. And that was the thought that he would go back and Sousuke wouldn't remember him. He tried his best to keep this off his mind, keeping his eyes shut trying to get a bit of sleep. But, after 30 minutes, he gave up and swatch on his bedroom light, starting to unpack his bag. Then, when he was halfway done, he sat back down on his bed, falling back and shutting off any light entering his eyes, falling asleep.
When Rin woke up, the light was off and he was under the cover, his guess being his mum came into his room last night to check up on him. Then, Rin went to the kitchen, making himself an egg and bacon sandwich. "Make me one too!" Rin jumped when he heard Gou shout over to him from the living room. Her and their mum was on the TV, watching comedy movies. "Fine, did you want one too, mum?" Rin's mum turned with a bright smile. "Well if you're offering to then why not!" Rin nodded and got out more eggs and a pack of bacon. Then, he continued cooking.
After eating breakfast, Rin rushed upstairs, packing away the rest of his items and grabbing a plastic bag, putting all the prizes he won for his friends inside and went back down. "Off to see your boyfriend?" Usually, whenever Gou made these jokes, it would make Rin slightly annoyed. But now, since they were boyfriends, it would make him laugh. "Yep, It's been a while so I wanted to see him right after I finished packing away." Gou nodded waved at her brother as he took off, making his way through the streets and to the front of the hospital. Usually, Sousuke would be there to offer Rin a can of cola but today it was Sousuke and his Doctor.
Rin ran up to both of them, a bright smile on his face as he hugged Sousuke tight. "I'm back! I missed you!" Slowly, Sousuke brought his arms up and hugged him back, neither one of the boys wanting to let go. But, the Doctor interrupted them. "Rin, I need to talk to you." Rin nodded and slowly let go of the taller boy, walking towards the Doctor. "What's up?" The Doctor sighed slightly as he looked at Rin dead in the eyes. "I'm sorry but Mr Yamazaki has entered Stage 6." The bag fell, all prizes falling out. "Already...? It feels like only yesterday when I found out he had it..." Rin steadily covered his face with one hand, a hurtful laugh escaping. "I knew this would happen soon but... I wasn't ready to hear it straight on... What will happen to him now?" The Doctor sighed and then breathed in slightly. "Well he'll start to forget the names of his caregivers and his spouse (a partner), he will be unaware of his surroundings and will forget recent events, he may have blurred memory about past events and have delusional and obsessive behaviour. He may also add hints of anxiety, aggression, agitation and have a loss of willpower." Whilst the Doctor told Rin what he will need to do to make sure Sousuke stays safe, Rin couldn't help but let tears escape. In the middle of the Doctor's speech, he ran over to the tall, black haired boy and tightly hugged him, not wanting to let go. "Sousuke... Why did this have to happen to you? Why not someone else who deserved it! You did nothing wrong in your life! You were always so caring and protective, why did this have to happen!" Sousuke quickly raised his arms over Rin too. Then, the Doctor walked closer to the two boys. "Why don't we go inside? I'm sure you wouldn't want to cause too much of a racket out here." Rin nodded as he held onto Sousuke's arm. The Doctor picked up the bag and all the gifts inside and headed to room 109.
After an hour, Rin finally calmed down, his breathing pacing itself as he stayed in Sousuke's arms. Rin reached into the plastic bag and took out a small keychain which said, "I'm always by your side, far or close" with a golden koala carved into it holding a small, ruby heart. He gave it to Sousuke with a small smile on his face. "This is for you, Sousuke." The black haired boy took the keychain and looked at it with a soft grin. "What's this for?" Rin's smile grew a little brighter. "A souvenir from Australia." Then, the smile was completely wiped off Sousuke as his expression grew into confusion. "But weren't you meant to go tomorrow?" A small gasp left Rin as his eyes widened a bit. Then, the Doctor went over to Rin. "He'll be confused about time of events and he may repeat himself, just try to go along with him and don't make him too confused or he might become angered." Rin nodded as he turned back to Sousuke. "Yeah I am, so I bought you this as a gift to remember me." Sousuke smiled a little as he looked at the keychain again. "Thank you, Rin." The red haired boy's eyes watered. It was the first time in 4 months Rin heard Sousuke say his name so it was a surprise for him that he remembers him. "He still remembers my name... Why?" Rin was now looking at the Doctor again. "I'm not sure, he should've forgot it a while ago. But, you should be glad he remembers you." Rin nodded as he looked back at Sousuke with a bright grin. Then, Sousuke moved a bit of Rin's hair behind his ears, whispering slightly. "Did I ever tell you that you're... beautiful." Rin's heart raced a little as soft tears fell. "No, you haven't...You didn't need to." Rin quickly wiped his eyes as Sousuke pulled him close. "Rin...aren't you going Australia tomorrow? You'll need help packing your bags right?" A soft, painful laugh escaped Rin as he looked back up into the older boy's eyes. "I would, yes." The boy smiled a little as he placed down the keychain. "Rin...you're beautiful." Once more, Rin wiped his eyes, patting Sousuke's head. "Thank you...Sousuke." A faint-hearted beam of happiness revealed itself on Rin's face as Sousuke hugged him tightly. Rin promised himself he won't ever leave Sousuke's side again. Not now, not later, not even when he's gone. He promised himself he'll always be there. Just like the keychain said.
