Chapter 22: The Escape Plan (Part 1)

Onreifni was tied to a chair behind Zepki, both with a brown bag over their heads. Onreifni did not want to admit it but it was embarrassing that his rescue plan not only failed but also turned him into a prisoner.

Zepki: You must feel embarrassed huh?

Onreifni: Me? What? No. Never. *sigh* Yeah, this sucks. This is not how I planned things.

Zepki: It's okay, so tell me. Who sent you? Was it Darrell? Or I bet it was Nacy.

Onreifni: No one sent me. I came to rescue you out of my own free will.

Zepki: Wait, you're not from the organization? So what are you even doing here?

Back at base, The Commander was getting a rescue plan ready. She was quick to act even though she agreed with Jessachi that this whole "rescuing Onreifni" thing was getting old. She had everyone gathered around the conference to go over the plan. Well except for Kahori who was still practicing his kicks on the trees. Teonide and Alesana were nowhere to be found, so they had to work with whatever they had.

Commander: So according to Ycka's description, I believe that our best approach should be through the cliffside. Does everyone understand the plan? Good. Now let's go out there and-

The Commander froze as her gaze changed to the doors of the room. Two figures walked from the shadows and into the light. Briotami dropped the cup of coffee that she was holding and everyone else stood up from their seats. Everyone's jaw dropped as Briotami said "Mother? Father?". First of all, how did they get into the base? Second, what were they doing here? These questions and others were popping into everyone's mind.

Commander: What are you guys doing here?

Mr. Veliz: Oh nothing, just wanted to drop by and say hello to our two beloved daughters.

Mrs. Veliz: Yes, but don't mind us. Just pretend we aren't even here.

The Commander was clearly upset, she tried to continue with the escape plan but it was no good. Her mind kept drifting away towards her parent's judgmental eyes. The Commander snapped when she got interrupted by her mom, "Oh no honey, that won't work". With her temper lost, The Commander asked all of her members to leave the room. That included her younger sister Briotami.

Commander: Why? Why now? After all these years, why do you finally decide to come back into our lives? Was disowning us not enough? What more did you come to take from Briotami and me.

Mr. Veliz: Briagi relax. We are still your parents.

Commander: Yeah right, you guys stopped being our parents the day you kicked us out.

Mrs. Veliz: Correction. It was the day we kicked YOU out. Then you decided to take Briotami from us.

Commander: Excuse me, Briotami came with me because she wanted to. Apparently, I wasn't the only one that was tired of being neglected and mistreated.

Everyone else wandered outside the room and waited in anticipation. What could they be talking about in there they asked themselves. Briotami was the only one who was looking down at the ground expressionless. Gloria saw this and stood next to her to try to comfort her. "It will all be alright-" said Glorisa but Briotami was having none of this pep talk and went to her room.

Commander: Enough with the bullshit. Just get to the point already. Why are you here?

Mr. Veliz: Simple. Your friend, Onreifni was it? Well, we had a deal.

Mrs. Veliz: Yes, that young fine gentleman. See, he promised us if we were to show up we would get the chance to see you fail, big time.

Mr. Veliz: This was an opportunity we could not pass up.
