I jumped in my car and sped out of my driveway. Tears still trying to fill my eyes I slowed down and drove into a busy gas station. I hopped out to try and get some air back inside my lungs but it wasn't happening.
I was only breathing air in, nothing came out. I felt as if my chest would cave in at any moment. I started to hyperventilate, my hands started to go cold. I tried leaning over to try and catch my breath but that made it worse. I felt so light-headed since no air was flowing into me. My ears started to ring which didn't help when someone walked over to me.
I couldn't even make out who the person was.
Was I spiraling? Was I delusional? Why is this happening?
Questions ran through my mind which I didn't have the answers too. Someone rushed over to where I parked my car at the gas station. They bent down on one knee.
"My love are you okay?"
Whoever this is was extremely muffled. They lifted my chin and my vision became a bit clearer.
It was Devin.
I couldn't form a coherent sentence to tell him what was going on with me I was too shaken up about what was happening. Devin picked up my keys and locked the car before picking me up and carrying me to his car. He placed me in the passenger seat of his car and jumped in the driver's seat and sped off.
We drove for maybe 15 minutes before we pulled into an empty parking lot. Still pretty shaken up Devin grabbed my shakey hands and held them. "Senaii look at me. Breathee. Follow me okay? In through the nose out through the mouth." Devin began to take deep breaths to help steady my breathing.
I followed Devin's breathing techniques my shaking started to go down. After 5 more minutes of trying to steady my breathing it finally was steady. "Thank you Devin for helping me through this."
"Any time. If you don't mind me asking.. What happened to trigger your panic attack?"
"Panic attack? I thought I was just spiraling."
"No love, you experienced your first panic attack. I'm glad I found you when I did. I don't know what would've happened if I hadn't been there."
I looked down to see Devin caressing over my hands to soothe me. I smiled a little. I looked up to see that the sun started to set. The pink clouds, the way the sun looked setting, the music, the atmosphere, Devin. Everything seemed to be very appealing.
I slowly started to drift off to sleep due to Devin drawing circles on my hand. "Love?"
"Hmm?" "You can't drive sleepy. Would you like to sleep at my house tonight?"
"Mhm" He chuckled lightly and started the car up again. We drove for an additional 10 minutes before we pulled into his driveway. He turned off the car which slightly woke me up. He unbuckled my seat beat where he picked me back up to carry me inside.
Once we got inside he walked for a little bit until I left the comfort of his arms and was greeted by a soft pillow. Devin pulled the covers over me and turned out the lamp. "Goodnight love" He spoke in a hushed tone. I reached out for his hand.
