Who Says?

No time to do the things I used to

Can't seem to fix myself

Today my mood's as dark as the roots

I'm trying to escape

Now, all of my roses have thorns

All of my crystals have fractures

So many tragedies in the world to mourn

It's feels like it's all broken

Happy times seem so far away

If they ever existed in the first place

Isn't life more than just a race?

One that so many are losing

Who says the world is dark?

And you can't make it brighter

Who says you can't be

Both a lover and a fighter

Who says all the world must be tragedy

And no one can make a difference?

Children, stay sunny and gold

Elders, pass down wisdom of the old

Teens, stop hating life so much

You've got so much left

Faithful times seem so far away

If they ever existed in the first place

Isn't life more than just a race?

One that so many are losing

Who says the world is dark?

Well I'ma make it brighter

Who says you can't be

Both a lover and a fighter?

Who says all the world must be tragedy?

But we can make a difference

Yeah, we're here in the last days

Full of wars, death, and plague

But we can make the best out of it

Light the candle in the dark

Hopeful times seem so far away

If they ever existed in the first place

Isn't life more than just a race?

One that so many are losing

Who says the world is dark?

Well we all can make it brighter

Who says you can't be

Both a lover and a fighter?

Who says all the world must be tragedy?

But we can make a difference

Who says the world doesn't have to be tragedy?

That's us, we making a difference

I got the inspiration for this during that anxiety spike time mentioned a few poems before, but throughout the course of the poem I realized that no one can change the world alone, but they can start a chain of events that might, for better or worse, so use that potential wisely.
