The banners and streamers decorated practically the whole manor like there was no tomorrow, balloons, props, and presents were presented everywhere.
Everyone tried their best to keep the mercenary occupied upstairs, in his room, or someplace elsewhere that wasn't downstairs.
Everyone took turns.
Martha whacked the back of Tracy's head as she slid goggles into a small box.
“What kind of present is THAT? you really think he'd enjoy goggles? You're so oblivious sometimes I swear.”
Tracy pouted as you scolded Martha for her rude behaviour,
“IM SORRRYYY-” Martha yelled out an apology as you smacked her on the head lightly wary of not to hurt her.
“Y/N, that's enough.”

Said the familiar voice of a doctor, “Sorry, Emily..” You muttered to her making her shake her head in disapproval.

The Mercenary groaned, “Why can't I just go downstairs, Eli?” He groaned smacking his head on the wooden walls of the library.
The seer sighed, “I already told you, Naib. It's something you can't know.” Naib groaned once more smackiing his head on the walls of the library as the door to the library opened.
“Eli?” The Mercenary turned towards the voice remembering them as Y/N.
His lips slowly curved into a small smile as she spoke, her voice was so angelic towards him.

He felt like he was in heaven.
“Martha needs you downstairs.” She said gesturing down behind her.
“Oh, okay.” Eli left as the woman closed the door behind her.
She looked over at the Mercenary who was staring at her, she rose a brow.
“Uh, hello? Earth to Naib??” She waved her hand over his face as he blinked, “Sorry. Zoned out..” He mumbled. She chuckled before giving him a closed eye smile and patting his head, “We all zone out sometimes, don't worry!” The Mercenary smiled examining her delicate and porcelain features.

Her face lit up, “Oh! Almost forgot! Martha told me to give this to you, no idea why though.” She said handing him a small light-pink envelope with a heart for the sticker. He rose a brow as he peeled the heart off. “Anyways, you'll be allowed to go downstairs shortly. I promise.” She said flashing him a small smile before leaving the library with a sigh.

The Mercenary softly opened the envelope pulling out a white piece of paper — a letter.

Dear Naib,

I know you're not the type to read letters or to even like letters but,, there's something important I need to tell you. Everytime I see you, my heart warms with joy. I feel happy around you, I feel almost safe. You make me feel ways no one else ever has before. No matter how rude you can be you'll always mean something to me. I don't know what's happened to me, but I think i've caught feelings for you.

I think I'm in love, with you..
If you accept my feelings, please meet me outside in the garden at 11pm tonight. I wish to see you there.

From yours truly,
Martha.

The Mercenary scoffed — ripping up the letter before throwing it in a nearby bin.
“Like I'd like her.” His face slowly curved into a smile as an image of you popped up in your head.
He felt his bottom lip quiver in what seemed to be.. Love. As his mind filled with you, and only you.

A knock on the door startled him from his thoughts of you. His eyes drifted towards the door handle as someone fiddled with it for a bit before it opened revealing the face of a Mechanic.
“You can come downstairs now!” He sighed in relief, “Finally.” The Mechanic ran away in an instant as he tried to make his eyes out without tripping.
“Why is it so dark jesus christ-” He fumbled his hand around on the wall looking for the light switch until he eventually found it. He flicked the light on only to flinch in surprise.

“SURPRISE!” His eyes examined the now huge crowd in front of him. Above the crowd were multiple coloured streamers with one giant one saying;

‘ H A P P Y
  B I R T H D A Y  N A I B! '

His eyebrows furrowed, “Todays my.. birthday?-” He said looking at the others for an answer, “Mhm!” He heard Vera tell from the corner of the room.
“Wow I-.. Thanks guys..” He said earning him a big, loud “You're welcome!”  from everyone.
He made his way over to the table as Fiona called him over.
In the middle of the table sat a huge light green cake with the words in frosting spelling out:

“Happy Birthday Naib!~” In what seemed to be a joint-writing font. He counted each candle that equalled up to 28. He looked at everyone as they started to sing.

“Happy Birthday to you!~

Happy Birthday to you!~

Happy Birthday dear Naib!~

Happy Birthday to you!~

Hip, Hip!

Hooray!”

He smiled as everyone yelled,
“Make a wish!” He blew onto the candles after thinking hard as everyone clapped.
The cake was pushed to the side carefully as a mountain of gifts were sat in front of him.
“Holy shit-” He spat out out of surprise, “Jesus that's a lot of gifts--” He said as some tilted to the side and almost slipped off.
He opened the first one, it was some bandages. He looked around until a face caught his attention, the gift was from Emily.

“So you can actually heal yourself in matches instead of getting hurt more.” She said earning a laugh from the others, the gifts continued from Emily's bandages ending with a hat from Norton.

There was one gift left, the wrapping was perfect with a white bow concealing it all together.
He slowly unwrapped it careful not to rip the wrapping paper as if it would cause something bad to happen.
There was a small but rectangular green box.
He opened it seeing a piece of paper with writing.
“Turn around.”

The Mercenary turned around only to feel something soft on his lips. His eyes widened and his face flushed red as he was brought face to face with you.
His expression relaxed as he knew it was you. He closed his eyes slowly melting into the kiss as people cheered. He parted first panting as he opened his eyes only to be brought up to with the sight of an E/C pair.

He smiled as you started talking, “Did you enjoy your gift?” You teased looking at him with a bright smile.

He nodded, returning the smile.
“Best gift ever.” He said, pulling you in for another.
