Chapter Eighteen

Zac and Joc are walking to the truck. Al walks towards the house. Michael sees he is bloody. He stands up. He growls low in his throat. I grab his shirt in my sleep.

“Nicholas, take your mom and place her in her room on my cover please.” Michael says as he hands me to Nicholas.

Nicholas carries me inside the house. Michael walks to Al. There are a few things you don’t want to mess with when it comes to a dragon do not mess with their mate nor their child unless you got a death wish.

           Michael knows I am inside the house in my bedroom. He looks Al over.

“What happen?” Michael growls, “Victor and a dude built like a truck has jump me.”

Michael says, “Dodge, stay here until I come back.”

Joc stands in front of him, “Hell no, you are not leave Ilona. Zac and Dodge can handle it.”

Maddox growls at him, “Get out of my way human.”

Bruce gets in front of Joc, “Easy Alpha, he is right the little one needs you to remain here for her. Think about it we have almost lost them once they need you here Alpha. We will go after the traitors and we’ll handle them. Please Alpha leave them to us.”

Maddox relaxes, “I am sorry Bruce. Are you alright pup?”

Al nods at him, “Yeah Dad, I am okay. How is Mom?”

Maddox turns towards my bedroom, “She is resting she had woken up and had two bowls of broth.”

Al says, “Uncle Zac, please take Joc to the store so he can make more broth for mom.”

Zac nods to him, “Yeah, afterwards we will go hunting.”

As they walk to Zac’s truck, “Remind me to not do that again.”

Zac laughs and replies, “Maddox would never hurt you.”

Joc says, “Well, I am used to dealing with Michael not his dragon half.”

Nic walks out of the house, “Oh my gods Al what happen?”

Al smirks and chuckles, “You should see the other guy.”

Nic looks at Michael, “What is the plan?”

Michael looks at them and replies, “Us three are staying here with your mom. Zacharias and Dodge are going after them.”

Al says, “Thought dragons don’t hurt pups?”

Michael says, “If it is who I think it was, he will and which is why I will need your help in protecting her.”

Al casts a look at my window, “He is after her why?”

Michael says, “I had kick him out of the clan when he and a few others had bullied your mom. My father was off somewhere doing only gods know what so since I am his first-born son, I was acting clan leader.”

Nic says, “Why would he want to harm her, she is an innocent?”

Michael says, “Some of our people feel humans are below us and have no right to know about us. I didn’t know your mom had found the landing so Maddox had land down and give control to me so I could shift back to my form. I didn’t realize she was looking at me like everything had came together for her. She just laughed and said.”

“Well that explains a lot of shit to me.” I repeat what I had said to him that day.

“Ilona, you should be resting.” Michael says, “What happen?”
