Chapter Twenty- Seven

I sign, “Why are males so stubborn?”

Irene says, “Because they are.”

I bite my lips to stop from laughing when Zac is just looking at us like why are yall being so sassy with us today, “Awe Zachy what’s the matter?”

Zac just looks at me, “This is not funny.”

I tap his cheek, “Easy up.”

Zac grabs my hand, “Little sister, it is important to us that you girls remain safe.”

I squeeze his hand, “Zac, you need to care for you and Bruce. How can you protect us if you have no energy?”

Zac signs, “Fine I will sit down and eat.”

I smile and tell him, “Thank you.”

He sits down, “You are welcome.”

I squeeze his hand reassuring him, “We are going to be okay.”

He says nothing to me. He is eating breakfast with me. Irene smiles and mouths to me she will bring more food up later. I mouth back to her thank you. She walks out of the room. I smile when Joc walks to the door.

“Hey Ilona.” I smile and ask him, “How are you adjusting to being here?”

Joc says, “It is weird getting stared at.”

I smile and tell him, “Those stares don’t go away, but you will get used to them.”

Joc walks to the beds where the girls are sleeping, “They are so beautiful Ilona.”

I tell him, “Thank you.”

Joc says, “We are family that is what we do.”

Michael walks into the room, “Michael, what’s wrong?”

Michael walks to me kissing my forehead, “Nothing for you to worry about.”

I look up at him, “You should get some sleep.”

Michael says, “I am fine.”

“Michael, you stay up all night caring for our daughters. You need to get some sleep. Please for me just for a few hours.” I press a kiss to the back of his hand.

He signs, “Okay for you for a few hours.”

I tell him, “Thank you.”

Zac says, “I am going to go check with Clay about where we are at.”

Michael says, “Leave it be for now. If I am going to be made to go to sleep you need to go home and sleep for a few hours as well.”

Joc says, “I agree with Michael, Zacharias. You guys have been up all night.”

I get up from the small table. I walk to Michael. He looks up at me. I cup his face with my hands. I kiss him he grabs me by the back of my neck deeping the kiss.

Joc says, “Time to leave.”

Zac says, “Yeah, I am beat let’s go shower and rest for a few hours.”

Joc and Zac leaves the room. They shut the door behind them. I hug Michael to me. It is good they are being together.

I tell him, “Thank gods you weren’t hurt.”

Michael hugs me to him, “I am stronger with you by my side.”

I kiss him, “How long has it been since you had fed the girls?”

Michael says, “Thirty minutes before you had woken up. You were dead tired.”

I ask him, “Do you want me to nap with you?”
