Leonore sat at her desk and stared out the window. The flashback earlier had unsettled her, and she still didn't understand why it happened. Leonore's headache had intensified, and she was grateful that her workday had ended. Even though she didn't want to think about that time of her life, her mind was too weak mentally to fight her memories and she slipped back into her past.
Leonore tossed and turned in her bed, she looked at her clock and it said 2 am. She groaned as she had a 9 am lecture and already knew it was going to be painful. Leonore's body quivered at the memory of her professor's words and closeness, her perfume making her breathe deeply to savour the smell. Leonore couldn't get out of the classroom fast enough as it ended to get away from the embarrassment of her behaviour. She jumped when she felt Caro put her arm around her shoulders, her body still on high alert after the encounter.
"What was that about Leo?" Caro asked, concerned for her friend.
"Nothing, I don't want to talk about it." Leonore answered, not in the mood for Caro's teasing.
"Damn girl, you need to get laid." Caro said, pushing her shoulder.
Leonore gave her a filthy look and walked away from her. That was always Caro's response when she got moody, and it was tiresome. Caro ran up to her again and pulled her into a side hug and kissed her cheek.
"Get away from me you pervert." Leonore replied, laughing as she pushed her friend away.
"You know you want all this." Caro said, giving Leonore a mischievous grin.
"You wish." Leonore answered, rolling her eyes at her friend.
Leonore pushed the incident to the back of her mind and concentrated on the rest of her classes. However, now she was lying in bed alone it came back to her, and it was preventing her from sleeping. Leonore still didn't understand her response to her professor. She intrigued Leonore and terrified her at the same time. Leonore learnt long ago that certain feelings were dangerous and best forgotten and she fought hard to keep those feelings from escaping. Leonore was happy to live a lie, her whole life was a lie, and she no longer knew the truth about herself. The professor threatened that lie and Leonore couldn't have that. She would go to student services tomorrow and see if she could change to another class.
"Earth to Leo! Bitch pay attention to me." Caro yelled before slapping her on the arm.
"Ouch bitch! That was unnecessary." Leonore growled at Caro, rubbing her arm.
"Yes, it was. You were ignoring me, and you know the world must revolve around me." Caro said, sitting on the arm of the chair.
"Whatever." Leonore said, getting ready to leave.
"Are you alright? Maddie told me about the dizzy spell this morning." Caro said, concern in her eyes.
"Yeah, it was nothing." Leonore answered, annoyed at Maddie.
"You're working too hard, and you are obviously not sleeping." Caro said, noticing the blackness under her eyes.
"Yeah, I need a holiday. I'm going down to Tathra over the Easter break." Leonore replied, pressing the button to the carpark.
"Do you want to come over for dinner?" Caro asked, hoping she would.
"No, I just want to go home and have a bath. I need to try sleep." Leonore answered, yawning to stress the point she was tired.
"We hardly hang out anymore." Caro whined, clearly upset.
"Caro, we see each other every day and we have dinner together every Saturday with the parentals." Leonore said, getting annoyed as she wasn't in the mood.
