Chapter 15 : Klaus

Alaric's Residence

Klaus/Alaric is at the door with Maddox. Katherine is making coffee and Daniel is sitting on the couch. "I'll be back as soon as I can." Maddox said to Alaric/Klaus. "Yes, do hurry. I'm anxious to get out of this body. And if you get hung up, call me. You know how impatient I get." Alaric/Klaus told him. Maddox leaves. Klaus/Alaric closes the door.

"Where's he going?" Katherine asked him. She holds out her coffee for Klaus. "To retrieve me. So I can get out of this bad hair-do." He told her. "Are you sure that's a good idea, Klaus?" Daniel asked him. "Well, the full moon is almost upon us." He started. He puts the moonstone on the table. "I've killed the witch, I have the moon stone, and the doppelgänger is waiting in the wings. Ohh, I am ready to break this curse." He finished off.

"And why would you do that here? There's so many people that would try to stop you." Katherine said to him. "Because I have to. It's the birthplace of the doppelgänger." Alaric/Klaus said to her. "I didn't realize that was a requirement." Daniel said to him pouring a cup of coffee.

"Well, how could you two know that? She betrayed me and fled England before I could give her the details. But I did find her birthplace and I slaughtered her family. And, you just didn't know all together. So I guess we're cool. Let's just hope that Elena isn't as stupid as Katerina was." Alaric/Klaus said to him.

"She won't run. She'll die before she lets anyone that she loves get hurt." Katherine told him. "And that's exactly what I'm counting on." He told her. He walks up to her. "You can't leave until I tell you to." He compelled her. He did the same thing to Daniel.

Later

Katherine is spinning on a swivel chair to amuse herself while music is playing. Daniel opens a cupboard and finds a bottle of bourbon whiskey. He takes it and smiles. He opens it and takes a drink from it and hears someone with his vampire hearing. "I don't think this is a good idea." Andie said to Damon. "Investigative journalism....we're investigating." Damon told her.

Damon and Andie are outside the apartment. She knocks on the door. "Alaric, are you home? Andie...Star, Jenna's friend." Andie said on the other side of the door. Katherine tries goes to grab the doorknob but an invisible force prevents her hand from touch it. She tries again, gives up, and walks away from the door. Andie and Damon open the door.

"Thank god." Daniel said to the couple. Andie enters. "Wow! You were right. She looks exactly like Elena." She said to Damon. "Yeah she gets that a lot." Daniel said to the journalist. "Yep." Damon said. He can't enter. He looks at Katherine and Daniel. "Thought you two might be dead." Damon said to them. "Unfortunately not." Katherine said.

"What are you doing here?" Katherine asked Damon. "We are here to rescue you." Andie said to the couple. "No, sweetie. We are here to see if they deserve to be rescued." Damon corrected her. "Right." She said. "figured you two still might be kicking. Alaric-Klaus was blending way too easily. Figured he probably had some coaching." He said to the couple. He shows them two phials.

"Is that..." Daniel said pointing at the phials. "Vervain? Your salvation." Damon said to them. "It's not going to undo anything." Katherine told him and Daniel nodded his head in agreement. "There's always a loophole. Did he tell you to stay in this apartment until he said it was okay to leave?" Damon asked them.

Daniel goes to speak but finds himself unable to. "You can't say. Did he tell you to do absolutely everything he says until the end of time?" Damon asked. "No." They said at the same time and came to a realisation. "There's your loophole. Drink this and it'll prevent any further compulsion." Damon told them. She comes closer to take them but she is unable to cross the threshold.

"Give them to me." She demanded. "Answer one question first. You two double-crossed us with Isobel, why?" Damon asked them. "didn't think you could stand a chance against Klaus, so we were looking out for ourselves." Daniel told him. "And where did that get you? Here." Damon said tossing one phial to Katherine and the other to Daniel.

"Be careful with that. If he finds out you have that, you're never getting out of here." Damon said. They drink the vervain and cough violently afterwards. "You owe me. And I will collect." Damon told them. He looks at Andie. "Come on. Let's go." Damon told her. "Nice to meet you. And nice to see you again, Daniel." She said to the couple before leaving.

Later

The music is very loud. Katherine and Daniel are drinking from the bottle of bourbon and dancing. Suddenly they hear someone at the door. Klaus/Alaric enters. When he looks in the room he sees Katherine and Daniel sitting motionless on the couch. "You mind turning that down?" He asked them. She uses the remote to turn down the music.

"Why do grumpy?" Daniel asked him. "Well, this body has outlived its usefulness." Alaric/Klaus told him. "Do you want a drink?" Katherine asked him innocently. "No, Katerina, I don't want a drink." He said frustrated. "Come on. It might loosen you up." She said. She offers him the bottle. He takes it and throws it against the wall, smashing it. He compels her.

"What I want is for you to sit down and shut up." He told her. "Same goes for you." He said to Daniel. They sit down on the couch. Maddox arrives. "Maddox, what took you so long?" Alaric/Klaus asked the witch. "You've got a lot of luggage." He said. Two men enter with luggage. A woman enters too. "Greta. Finally." He said to the woman.

"Hello, love. Nice body. You ready to get out of it?" She asked him. Two other men arrive with a giant wooden crate. Katherine looks at them and then at Daniel who had a worried look on his face.

Later

Maddox and Greta are on their knees casting a spell. There are lit candles all around them. Klaus/Alaric is standing next to the box, his head bowed and eyes closed. Katherine and Daniel are looking at them. They stop and look at Alaric. He opens his eyes and looks at Katherine and Daniel. "Phasmatos Tribum, Nas Ex Veras, Uenes Phasmatos Et Sonos. Ex Tutam Exum Lamia Matus." The two witches chanted in sync.

"Elena?" Alaric asked. He collapses. Maddox stands up and opens the box. Klaus walks out of it and looks down at Alaric. "Now that's more like it." Klaus said and smiled. He glanced at Daniel who had a nervous look. "What's wrong, mate?" Klaus asked Daniel. "Elijah." He simply said. Klaus dropped his smile and looked at him. "What deal did you make?" He asked him. "He keeps me alive if I convince you to give him what he wants." He told him. "Your lucky day. I'm in a giving mood." He told him.
