POV: Mackenzie Miller
Laying my head against the car's window, I feel dead. And when Asher stops, I don't move.
"I have to get this car as far as possible, so no need to knock. Just open the door."
I raise my head to see what he's talking about. Then I understand. I don't know in which part of the city we are but I've never seen this one.
There's a karate training school in front of us. I guess it's one of Asher's hiding places. I'm too tired to argue with him. So I obey and walk out of the car. I go to the building's door and open it. The moment I close it; I hear the car going away. I hope he isn't going for too long.
I don't know where to go so I just walk inside. It's dark but thanks to the windows, I can see what is surrounding me. It's a small hall where are located a desk, chairs and other lobby things. In the middle, there's a corridor. I decide to borrow it. It directly gives to a huge training room. The gym carpet is dark blue and the walls are white. A few targets shaped into human's form are standing in front of me like real people. In the corner, there's a water machine. There's also a-
Someone's arm around my neck cuts me from contemplating the place. I try to remove the arm but the person's grip is firm. So I slam the back of my he ad against their face. I hear a small moan. Then, I dig my elbow into the person's chest. And another moan.
It's enough for me to grab their arm and turn it around. That way, I'm liberated and I hold the person captive. I hit them so hard that they collapse on the floor, back against the blue carpet. I jump on them and hold their hands on the top of their head. Then I stop and stare into their eyes. I realize that the person is a guy. The hottest guy I've ever seen.
His black hair is falling on his forehead and his dark green eyes have a spark that lightens him in a way I can't explain. He looks like a dark king or something. But in the same time, you can see that he wouldn't do anything bad.
"Who the fuck are you?" he asks, his voice as cold as ice.
It takes me a few seconds to final realize what is happening. I keep looking at his eyes before saying, "No. Who are you?"
"Not a stranger entering my dojo looking like a murderer."
I frown my brows. "I'm not a murderer."
"Well..." He looks down at my body, noticing every stain of blood on it. "You don't really look like s sweet girl."
I've always been a sweet girl to the people in my life. I've always looked like someone who would do no harm to anyone. My friends used to call me a softie or an angel. So hearing that guy telling the whole opposite gave me a strange feeling.
"Plus, you're a good fighter", he adds.
"Thanks", I say.
Wait-
What the hell did I just say?
Before I could add anything else, I feel his foot landing on the back of my head. I suddenly fall on him before releasing his hands. He takes the opportunity to make us change the position.
At present, he's astride of me; his hands blocking mine on the top of my head.
"But not as good fighter as I am", he says.
"Asshole", I spite.
Now, it's my turn to look at his body. He's wearing a white karate uniform with a black belt around his waist.
He bends down to me, our faces getting closer and closer. "Now, sweetheart, tell me more about yourself."
His deep and sensual voice makes my heart pound. There's no trace of amusement on his face. The guy is serious.
"Carter, what the fuckin' fuck?!" I hear Asher's voice coming from the corridor. He's walking toward us. "I was the first to see her. So she's mine not yours."
Carter's eyes lift to Asher. He releases his grip from my hand before saying, "You left her alone in my territory so she's mine now."
"What the-
I don't let Asher the time to continue. I remove my hands from Carter's and punch him in the face three times. Then, I push him away from me before I get up and look at both of the boys, unbelievable. "I'm not an object", I say.
I notice the corner of Asher's lips lifting. Then the two boys laugh.
When Asher realizes that I'm glaring at him, he tries to speak. "Sorry for that. We didn't mean to."
"I swear to God that if my fist doesn't land on your face in-
"It was just to see your reaction", he cuts me.
"My what?"
"And it was hilarious. You should have seen your face, Kenny."
"Don't-
"Call me Kenny", Asher continues the sentence by mimicking my voice.
Carter gets up, his hand on his painful face. He leans his other hand at my direction.
"Carter", he says.
I take it and shake it. "Mackenzie. Nice to meet you."
My last sentence wasn't necessary. Especially after I got teased by him.
"Did you see what happened?" Carter asks.
"No we didn't", Asher replies.
"How-
"He's kidding", I say, glaring at Asher. "We really don't have the time to joke."
"Everything is fucked", Carter says calmly. "They have the city. We don't even know who they're."
"That's what we're going to discover. We have to stop their shit."
"And to find Hailey."
Carter raises a brow. "Hailey?"
"My sister."
"Someone kidnapped her", Asher adds. "And I feel like it's related to the city's massacre."
"I've always liked that kind of games", Carter says.
"It's not a game", I reply.
However, Carter is too excited to listen to me. "Let's kick some asses, guys!" he cries before looking at me and putting his arm around my shoulders. "Welcome to my do-jo, Kenny. We're going to have fun."
