Once all that was over, all of them, minus Eric, went back to the tower. Trip and Katie helped Sam get bandaged up. They bandaged her head and har arm, but her stomach was still in pain. Wes stayed downstairs, but Jen soon went down to talk to him.
"Sam, I swear. You're so clumsy." Trip commented.
"You have no room to talk." Katie stared at him.
"Thanks guys, you're the best." Sam sent the a small smile.
"No need to thank us. We're friends. We take care of each other. If it were the other way around, I know you'd do the same for us." Katie said.
Sam gave them a small smile and looked down at the floor playing with her fingers. She couldn't be happier to have them around. After what had happened, she planned to cherish every moment with them.
Sam looked over at Lucas. He was simply just reading a book at the table. Her heart skipped a beat from just looking at him. But it also hurt at the same time. And every time she looked at him, she couldn't help but to be reminded of their kiss. It confused her emotions, not knowing what he was thinking, but she want sure if she really wanted to know.
While she looked down at the floor, Lucas quickly glanced over at her. Seeing the scratches and bruises on her knees pained him. He could see her clutching onto her stomach from the pain. Guilt washed over him. It wasn't necessarily his fault she was injured, but he felt guilty for not being there for her. He wasn't able to protect her.
"Say, should we go spy on Jen and Wes?" Trip asked excitedly.
"Definitely! Wanna come, Sam?" Katie asked.
Sam shook her head. "I'm good. I'll just stay up here. But have fun." Sam said.
Sam smiled as she watched Katie and Trip ran down the stairs. She stood up from where she was sitting and walked over towards the window.
Lucas looked over at her and watched Sam take a seat at the ledge of the window with her feet hanging out. She had grabbed a cassette, and was listening to her music, trying her best to ignore the awkwardness between them. Neither of them had said a word to each other since the fight. And not only that, Sam still refuses to even look at him. She could feel his eyes on her, but she just ignored it.
Lucas stood up from the table and slowly walked over to her. He lightly tapped her shoulder, hoping for her attention. Sam hesitantly took her headphones off and awkwardly tuned to him. Lucas swore he could hear his own heartbeat at that moment. "Hi." He said awkwardly.
"Hi." Sam replied, then turning her head back outside.
Lucas sat down next to her, facing the inside of the room. "How are your injuries?" He asked.
"They're fine, thanks to Trip and Katie." Sam said.
"You did a good job today." Lucas complemented.
"Thanks." Sam said.
It grew silent between them, the awkwardness coming back once again. Sam looked down at her hands and sighed. "I now understand why you like Tessa so much. She's great."
"Y-Yeah." Lucas stuttered.
"It's no wonder why you like her so much. She's so smart. Very mature and assertive. And she clearly cares a lot about you. She's just perfect for you." Sam said.
"That's kinda what I wanted to talk to you about." Lucas said. Sam took in a deep breath and looked the other way. "There was never a doubt in my mind that my feelings for Tessa were real. So I was devastated when I found out that..."
