Third P.O.V.Song WooBin knew he had screwed up since he couldn't remember the last time his best friend was so mad at him and the cherry on the top was MiYoung witnessing the dark side he had tried so hard to hide from her.
Once the trio had entered the So Household, MiYoung had stormed off to her room, leaving the two men in the living room.
So YiJung ignored his friend and ordered a maid to bring the first aid kit.
"Listen, man, I know I screwed up-"
"Screwed up? You got drunk and went to the ring to fight! That's not screwing up WooBin that's you being a plain idiot! What I don't understand is what triggered this stupidity?"
WooBin stayed quiet, unwilling to answer the question.
"Did your Dad contact you?" YiJung asked quietly causing WooBin to let out a sigh.
"I got a call as soon as we landed. It's time. I'll take over the organization at the end of this month." WooBin announced as he threw himself on the couch. Cursing life as he knew it.
"I still don't understand how this is possible. Your father just had ties with the mafia so how come you get to take over?"
"Two years ago Don's son ran away and his father's enemies found him. He didn't stand a chance since he had no protection. He was an only child. With no blood relatives to pass the organization on to, he turned to the partners. Dad and he have always been close and have mutual trust in each other. And so, I became the obvious choice."
"And if you refuse?"
"Then the position goes to someone else. And then I'll have a target painted on my back because I'll be a threat in their eyes. The Don's first choice. No matter what I do, I'm screwed either way. Better be screwed with protection."
So YiJung nodded silently as he thought of his best friend's future. There was no way WooBin could escape that easily from his fate. No one can walk away from the Mafia and not get killed. At least being the boss means having protection.
"Next time you get news like that, tell me instead of doing stupid shit. Okay?"
"Yeah alright." He muttered.
YiJung nodded as he stood up from his place next to him. "Get cleaned up. I'll go check on MiYoungie."
"Actually, you mind if I do it?" WooBin asked almost nervously.
"Nope. Knock yourself out." YiJung shrugged falling down on the couch. "But get cleaned up first."
WooBin nodded as a maid helped him clean up. Once the had his wounds tended to, he made his way upstairs to MiYoung's room. He stood in front of the door gathering his thoughts before he finally knocked on the door. He waited for a beat before knocking again.
"Go away." Came the response. Of which he did the complete opposite. He opened the door and headed in.
MiYoung was lying on her bed wrapped up in her blanket facing away from the door.
"MiYoung," he called out softly. When he received no response he walked to her side and sat on his knees next to her bed.
"MiYoung. Please look at me."
She shook her head further burying her head in the blankets.
He wrestled the blankets away from her and it made her snap. "What do you want?" She yelled as she sat up, fed up by the boy's tugging.
"Woah, calm down tiger." He jokingly stepped back raising his hands in the air.
She let out a sarcastic chuckle, "Calm down? I just witnessed you getting beaten up and you want me to calm down?"
"Okay, beaten up is a bit much. He didn't even land that many hits. You should've seen him." He winked playfully.
"And that's better how? What if something bad happened? What if you got seriously hurt?" Her voice broke at the last words as the prospect of losing another person she cared for came to her mind and the tears she was trying to hold back escaped her eyes.
WooBin's smile fell and he felt his gut clench as he watched the tears stream down her face. She turned away from him in order to hide her face but he grasped her shoulders and turned her around pulling her in a tight hug.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Please don't cry MiYoungie." He whispered as he held her against his chest.
She sobbed harder at that and his grip around her tightened. "Little one, please stop."
He brought his hands to her face and tilted her head back so he could see her. Her tear-stained face was like a punch in the gut to him and there he made a mental promise to himself. 'I'll never let those eyes cry for me again.'
"So Mi Young, I'm sorry. I promise I'll never do anything like this again. Just please, please stop crying." He pleaded as he wiped the tears from her face.
It took a few minutes for Mi Young to calm down and stop crying. WooBin handed her a glass of water and had her wash her face while he went to make a cup of hot chocolate for her.
When he returned he found her sitting on her bed. He handed her a mug as he took a seat opposite her, dreading the conversation that was going to take place but he know avoiding it would be stupid.
"Why did you do it?" MiYoung asked before he could think of a way to start the conversation.
He sighed rubbing the back of his neck, "I- It's a hobby of mine I guess? I'm a great fighter. I know various forms of martial arts and duels or fights are just a way for me to clear my head. You have to know that I wouldn't have gotten seriously hurt. The only reason I even got hit was that I had a few drinks and some things on my mind. I am sorry that you had to witness all that. I- I never wanted you to see that side of me." He spoke the last past lowly, almost ashamed.
She was quiet for a minute, "Then why did that person call Hyung? and why did he say that it might end badly?"
Woobin cursed under his breath, now he was done for. He didn't want to lie to her but the truth wouldn't make her worry any less. "That was my right-hand man HyunSik. He has orders from YiJung to call him or any of the F4 whenever I step into the ring, especially after I've had a drink or two."
"And why is that?"
"There was an incident but it's a thing of the past so let's leave it at that." He tried avoiding the question.
"Then you have to promise me something." She bargained.
He was surprised at the sudden demand but nodded his head anyway.
"You'll never part take in a fight again. Not in the ring and not outside."
He let out a sigh of despair, "I can't promise you that. I'm sorry. But what I can promise you is that I'll never take part in a fight when I've had alcohol. I'd promise what you asked for but I don't want to make a promise to you only to break it later on. But, I'll try to avoid fighting. Okay?"
MiYoung nodded, knowing that it was a long shot anyway. If it was his hobby and he was good at it then he must know what he's doing since others seem to be aware of it. She just prayed that he'll always be safe.
"You should go to sleep now. It's late." Woobin said as he stood up from his place and picked up their empty mugs in one hand. "Good night little one." He ruffled her hair and walked out of her room.
MiYoung eyed the closed door for a moment before letting out a whisper. "Good night Song WooBin."
