The Team Principal

Five

It's been a couple of months since Frankie moved in with her boyfriend and in that time, they celebrated their 1 year anniversary and they are now on the way to the factory for the final time before the team heads off to Bahrain for the first race of the 2021 season. Frankie can't believe it's her second season as team principal and she can't wait.

As Nicky and Frankie pull into the car park at the factory, they both notice that George has just arrived and he spots them and decides to wait for the couple to get out of the car. 

"Good Morning team principal, how are you on this fine morning?" George asks his best friend. "I'm good George. Just got lots to do before we fly off to Bahrain next week. Plus I've got to make sure all the paperwork is signed and including the stuff, to transport the cars is ready as well" I explained. George and Nicky say hello and give each other a bro hug, just before we walk into the factory building. 

As we enter the main building, we go our separate ways and now I'm on my way to my office, to go through all the paperwork ready for Bahrain. How fun is that. It honestly isn't that fun. When I enter my office, I take my jacket off and hang it on the peg behind my door, before taking a seat at my desk and logging on to the computer to check my emails, but there wasn't anything important in my inbox. Over the next 3 hours, I spend signing documents, checking over the flight details, cargo licences, making sure that everyone who is travelling to the race has a visa, and having mini individual meetings with each of the driver's engineers, coaches and mechanics to make sure that have contingency plans in case something goes wrong at the track and thankful they did. 

Now it was finally lunchtime, so I head down to the canteen to grab something to eat because I am absolutely starving. Looking at the selection of sandwiches on offer, I choose cheese and ham. Yes I know it is a basic sandwich but I like it. I also grab a can on Pepsi and a packet of quavers and go and see the lovely Sally at the time. As I'm about to tap my card on the card machine, out of the corner of my right eye, I see an arm go around the back of me and they tap their card on the reader. So I turn to my left and see Nicky standing behind him and George was behind my boyfriend. I smile at them and wait for them to pay for their lunch and we all walk over to the quieter side of the canteen. 

"You didn't have to pay for my lunch babe. I'm more than capable of doing that" was the first thing is said to my boyfriend as I sat down at the table with him and my best friend. "I wanted to treat you because you have been so busy lately with the upcoming race, I didn't want you to have to pay for your food" Nicholas said. I leaned over to my right and gave Nicky a hug and whispered thank you. "How's Bahrain planning going?" George asked me. "It is very stressful George, lots of paperwork, especially with the cargo licencing and making sure the people that are going have visas" was my reply to George's question. 

We all spend the rest of the lunch hour chatting about anything and everything and we were all looking forwards to the first race of the season and that we need to keep focusing on trying to do our best. Just as the three of us get up from the table, I walk over to George and give him a quick hug before going over to my boyfriend and giving him a hug and a quick kiss before heading back to my office, to plan for this afternoons meeting with James who is the head of media and both of the drivers PR and Press Officers about who they are going to have interviews with on media day and after the qualifying and the race. 

The meeting goes by in the blink of an eye, with the media plan now complete, I check over all the documents three more times before sending them over to himan resources, for them to check them. Once they have come back clear, I can photocopy them, so that I have an extra couple of copies just incase the original ones go missing or they have been misplaced. 

Now its times for the first race of the season and I cannot wait for the fun that's about begin for the 2021 Formula One season.
