Saudi was a tough race for the team. We had lost the founding member but both Williams drivers honour a great man. The entire world of Formula One paid tribute to my Grandad and I was truly touched with all the warmth and kindness I had received on behalf of my family and we all appreciated it. Especially the book of condolences.
I have been slowly picking myself up but knowing my Grandad, he would want me to put a smile on my face and not be sad but be happy and enjoy the life that is in front of me and I am going to do just that. The last week, I've not been feeling great, stomach ache and the constant urge to be sick but I found of what was wrong and I'm surprising Nicky after the race, whether it's a good or bad outcome, I'm telling him the news today.
I headed over to the garage, to speak to the team before we send the car out to the grid. I walk into the garage, grab my headset and radio before I start my talk. "Can I have everyone's attention please?" I said and everyone in the garage stopped what they were doing. "Right, it's the last race of the season and as a team, we've had some ups and downs but tonight we are going to give it our all. Let's go out on track and kick-ass for one last time this season. Thank you all and let's have a good race"
The cars were on the grid, ready to go. I was sitting on the pit wall, looking up at the five lights going out and ITS LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO. The final race of the 2021 season had begun and we are in for a bumpy ride.
The race flew by rather quickly. Unfortunately, both drivers got DNF's, not how the team imagined ending the season. A huge congratulations to Max Verstappen on becoming World Champion. Nicky and George went off to do their last media duties of the season, whilst I went up to my office for the final time this season, and then Nicky came into my office.
"Hello my beautiful wife," he said. "Hello my handsome husband" I replied and got up out of my to give Nicky a hug. "You alright," the Williams driver asked. "I actually have some news," I said with a big smile on my face, before heading over to my desk and grabbing the box, with the surprise in. I hand Nicky the box and then he looks at me. "What's this?" he asked. "Open it" I replied. Nicholas opened the box and a huge smile appeared on his face. "Are you serious?" he said. I nodded several times. Nicky place the box on the desk and engulfed me in a massive hug which resulted in him picking me up and me wrapping my legs around his waist and sharing a long passionate kiss. I pull back and looked at my husband. "I need to head downstairs to make my final speech and announce that we're expecting," I told Nicky. "Alright, let's go" he replied. Both of us leave the office and head down to the main area of hospitality but stand at the bottom of the stairs.
"Can I have your attention everyone?" I said and everyone stopped and looked at me and Nicky. "I just want to thank you all for all your hard work this season, it means a lot to me and I'm so proud of everyone that works for this team. I just want to thank George for being a part of Williams racing for the past three seasons, you have been a pleasure to work with and I want to wish you the best of luck at Mercedes but you will always be my best friend and your always welcome in hospitality. I also want to welcome Alex Albon to the team, who is joining us for the 2022 season and I know you going to make a positive impact on the team. But the final notice is that you won't be seeing me much next season because me and Nicky are expecting our first child" I said, and when I announced that I was pregnant, the entire team went into an uproar of happiness and excitement. "But on a final note, Merry Christmas everyone, enjoy the time you spend with your family and see you all in the new year," I said before sitting down.
Next year is definitely going to be mine and Nickys year and the year Williams is going to be getting some serious points in the constructors and driver championship.
