Everyone sat in shock at what Sage had just said. No, it couldn't be him. Victor Invanov was a ghost. Everyone knows that the Russian Mafia was one of the most horrific mafias out there. They got money off things like trafficking which others didn't approve of. Victor was known for his malicious ways so when he went 'missing' everyone thought his past had finally caught up with him.
Most were still investigating the strange disappearance of the Russians and their Don but no one was necessarily complaining.
"Are you sure it's Victor Invanov bambina" Dom asked making sure he heard his sister right.
"Yes, and I know what you all are thinking. But you need to trust me on this one." Sage answered seriously.
"So you are telling me that the Russian Mafia lea-" Matteo started
"Matteo" everyone except Sage hissed. In their minds Sage didn't know about the Mafia yet- well until now.
Sage let out a low chuckle shaking her head "It's okay guys, I know about the Mafia."
"And you're not scared of us?" Her twin asked looking at her with hopeful eyes.
"You're not scared of me so why should I be scared of you." Sage replied.
"How do you know exactly?" Angelo asked his daughter.
"I have always known even when we were young." Sage replied looking at her father.
"But that doesn't make sense, you said you don't remember us from back then." Enzo said shaking his head.
Sage stayed silent for a second looking down at her hands. She didn't want to tell them that she remembered them. It was for their own safety that she didn't from the start. But now that more and more was being revealed it didn't feel right keeping another secret. There were others, bigger than this one she didn't want revealed yet. Maybe telling this one would get them to steer away from topics that would bring the bigger secrets to light. Or it could just bring up more questions.
"She lied." Marco stated with a scoff.
"What?" Dom asked looking at his sister.
"He's right. I lied, I remember everything. I remember running around the house with Mario and the twins. I remember Dad taking us all out whenever he would come home after work trips. I remember our dinners with the Garcia's, looking at the stars with Tio. I remember everything." Sage stated not looking up from her hands. She felt guilty in a way keeping this from them. It might not have been a big secret but it was one she didn't want to keep.
"W-what I don't understand I-" Angelo started before he was cut off by his daughter.
"Good. You don't need to understand. Just know everything I have done is for your protection. I needed you to believe that I didn't remember you for a reason. What I did in the warehouse was for a reason. There is things you don't know, things you shouldn't know." Sage said firmly looking at her father.
"Bullshit!" Marco called out.
"That shouldn't be your job Sage, you shouldn't have to protect us." Gino said softly to his sister.
Sage smiled slightly at her older brother. "Like I said, there are things you don't know."
"Then tell us Sage." Mario said.
"I can't." Sage said shaking her head.
"Oh come on why not?" Marco said with narrowed eyes.
"Because it's not safe." Sage said argued starting to get annoyed.
"Why not?" Dom pressed.
"Because okay" Sage said having enough and flashing her eyes at him. But instantly regretted it when she saw him suck in a breath. She closed her eyes for a second letting out a breath.
"Look you need to understand that there are things out there that you don't know about yet. Weither it's because you don't need to know, or because you won't understand. I mean look at me, I am a teenage girl who somehow has these abilities from a freaking science experiment." Sage said with a sad chuckle. "You might not know why, or even like the answers i'm giving you. But understand it's not just for your safety but my sanity."
Everyone was quiet for a minute after that. They were all trying to understand where she was coming from. None of them would admit it but they were scared. Scared of what their youngest family member was hiding from them. They were scared of finding out what else she had gone through. They were scared that they didn't know.
But most of all they were angry. Because their bambina had to go through so much. She wasn't supposed to be abused, kidnapped, experimented on. She was supposed to travel the world, be treated like the princess, have everything she wanted because she deserved no less. They were angry they weren't able to give her the childhood she deserved.
There silence was interrupted by loud voices and incoming footsteps. "I do not care if they are having a talk, dime donde estan ellas!" A heavy feminine spanish accent spoke out firmly.
"Oh here we go." Angelo said putting his head in his hands already knowing who the voice belonged to.
Suddenly they doors of the room were thrown open. All of the roman's snapped their heads to see the Garcia family at the door. Upon seeing the Romans the Garcias let out a collective sigh. Given, the Romans looked like hell, but at least they were home.
"Oh gracias a dios you guys are okay." Maria Perez-Garcia exclaimed while running to the family.
She started checking each one of their faces slightly cursing them in her mother tongue under her breath. But when her eyes landed on Sage she momentarily stopped. Her hands flew to her mouth and tears immediately sprung to her eyes.
"Oh have look beautiful you have become." Maria said before rushing to bring the young girl into a hug. Sage was startled for a second not expecting the sudden reaction. She hesitantly wrapped her arms around the older woman reciprocating the hug.
"Maria remember we said no smothering her." August said to his wife shaking his head with a smile.
Maria pulled back looking at her husband. "I said you all not myself." she said with a smirk before turning back to Sage. "Now sweetheart I am going to ask you before I go off on the boys behind me, sí?"
Sage nodded her head at Maria.
"What the hell happened?"

Hello my lovesss! First I want to wish you a belated Merry Christmas! I hope all of your holidays went well! Second I want to apologize for not getting this chapter out sooner but over this holiday my whole family unfortunately got covid and I felt like absolute crap these past few days and could barely breathe. But I promised you all that I would get another chapter out before this year ended and I plan on keeping that promise!
