Chapter 26: Midnight Hour ~ Part 4

In the middle of the Flicky Forest, Shadow had found himself face-to-face with Metal Sonic with both of them going into battle stances. The Flicky birds and critters trembled in fear. Some of them hugged each other for protection. Others ran back in their hiding spots and their own shelters Runa offered for them to sleep for the night.

Shadow was shooting his glaring eyes at Metal Sonic. He was about to deliver a shadow punch on his chest but it's one second too late. He found himself being punched to his chest by Metal Sonic's robotic fist.

Shadow was sent flying backwards. His back hit against the tree trunk and he found himself being dragged to the ground. By force. A groan escaped his mouth as he slowly pushed himself back up. After a few moments, his left hand was on his left knee. His foot made contact with the grassy ground while his other foot was slowly pushing himself back to his standing position.

As he did so, one eye was severely opened. He saw Metal Sonic from up above preparing himself to deliver one last punch. But thanks to his hover shoes, he launched himself directly towards him.and the two clashed against each other.

Back in the nightclub...

"Shadow is fighting Metal Sonic?!" asked Tangle in shock. "Where?!"

"Chao," Rosy said in a slow and raspy tone.

"Chao-chao-chao!" said Bearace.

"What did your chao friend say?" Belle asked Runa in curiosity.

"He said Shadow is fighting Metal Sonic at the Flicky Forest! It's where any Flicky I took in lives until they're either healed or they find their family," said Runa.

"That's nice to hear, Runa. So, what do we do with those two?" asked Belle gesturing to the screen on what had happened in Metal Sonic's perspective.
Runa's head turned to the outside door.

"I don't know, but I have to risk things up," she said determinedly.

"Runa, what are you—?"

"Tell them to keep celebrating. I have a Flicky Forest to protect and a battle to stop."

"Runa, wait!" Belle said reaching her hand out to her.

But it's too late. Runa had sprinted her way out the door, along with the other chao flying with her. Belle sighed in defeat.

Following this situation, everyone continued celebrating New Year's Eve, but some of the Sonic Heroes were worried about what's gonna happen to Runa.

Back in the Flicky Forest...

Both Shadow and Metal Sonic kept clashing each other from time to time. Mostly with their spindashing skills. Now, it's eleven-thirty. Shadow was hit against one side of the tree while Metal Sonic had the same hit across the black hedgehog.
"You may have invaded this shelter, but it is my dity to keep an eyes on creatures living here," said Shadow, glaring at him deadly.

Metal Sonic pushed himself back up and launched his way directly towards Shadow. But just as he was about to deliver a punch, a new punch has joined in. This caused his head to move up and his body to flip himself on full contact with his opponent. He felt a back-kick on his stomach sending him flying backwards through a few trees.

After Shadow saw how Metal Sonic was sent flying backwards, he looked up and was surprised to see none other than Runa the Hedgehog. With the five chao surrounding her. Darkly was seen keeping Shadow company.

Runa turned to her left. "Rosy, Mystico, you go make sure the Flicky birds and critters are safe."

"Chao-chao," they both said nodding in response, although Rosy's voice was almost at the normal level.
